Together with donors, government and other social agencies, WINS provides wrap-around support to women who are experiencing abuse, poverty, social isolation and/or homelessness.We also operate Calgary-area family thrift stores, the More Store and Twice New online shop where Calgarians shop and donate. WINS focuses on empowering women to move from a place of vulnerability to one of resilience. A career at WINS lets you advance your skills while making a meaningful contribution to Calgary women and their families.*The Role: Youth Employment Opportunity*The Basic Needs Facilitator provides support to clients at WINS program office located in Dover Family Thrift Store.Often a womans first contact with WINS is through the Free Goods Referral Program. Women coming out of crisis situations and women in transition gain access to basic needs items such as clothing, household items, and furniture. The Basic Needs Facilitator liaises directly with clients to provide the best customer service possible while ensuring their needs are met.*Summary of Responsibilities: *

  • Encourage referred clients to find items in the store within the Basic Needs Referral program guidelines
  • Support clients to find goods in the store and suggest appropriate items
  • Provide excellent customer service and refer clients to appropriate community program, agencies and resources
  • Provide a non-judgmental and supportive environment
  • Ensure client dignity and privacy is maintained
  • Ensure client concerns are addressed in a timely and professional manner
  • Responsible for data collection and maintenance of accurate records for the House to Home Program
  • Support in the processing of referrals including communicating with partner agency counsellors
  • In conjunction with the Senior Coordinator - Programs, assess and provide recommendations in regards to the effectiveness and efficiencies of the program based on client feedback
  • Inform the public of WINS programs and services
  • Ensure general housekeeping and tidiness of the store and House to Home Program office
  • Effectively handle cash sales and delivery procedures
  • Other duties as assigned
*Education and Qualifications: *
  • Must be eligible to legally work in Canada in accordance with relevant provincial legislation/regulations
  • Must have a flexible schedule, be available to work any shift from Sunday to Saturday
  • Committed to helping and supporting women and families in need
  • Strong customer service skills
  • Ability to work in a fast paced environment
  • Strong organizational skills with the ability to multi-task
  • Experience in working with marginalized and diverse populations with an understanding of issues that may impact women in crisis and/or in low income situations
  • Basic computer knowledge of Microsoft Word, Excel, and Outlook
  • Ability to stand for long periods of time and to lift up to (50) lbs on an individual basis or 100 lbs as a member of a team
  • Knowledge of local non-profit agencies, community programs and services is an asset
  • Must be able to provide satisfactory results of a Vulnerable Sector Search check through Calgary Police Service
  • Access to a reliable vehicle is an asset
