The OpportunityFueling Brains Academies are a growing Accredited Early Childhood Learning Institute in Calgary and Area that continues to set the standard for excellence. Our quality child care, preschool, and kindergarten programs build strong brains for life.We are currently hiring a Behavioral Coach (for a maternity leave contract) who will work closely with all teachers at all Academies in Calgary.   • Assists children with physical, social, and behavioral needs.
  • Delivers consultation services to parents, caregivers, teachers, and community specialists, and professionals regarding client progress and recommendations.
  • Carry a caseload of children for whom you will manage behavioral data, write IEP goals and objectives in related areas, write Behavior Intervention Plans, and ensure the implementation of those plans by classroom staff.
  • Respond to staff requests for assistance in managing difficult situations.
  • Ensures all licensing regulations are complied with at all times.
  • Assess difficult situations involving both individuals and groups and utilize necessary resources to de-escalate and/or defuse these situations.
  • Respond quickly and appropriately to crises, at times requiring the use of physical restraint, using the least restrictive intervention necessary to de-escalate the situation.
  • Demonstrate knowledge of human development, including understanding the factors that contribute to dysfunctional behavior.
  • Complete serious incident reports in a timely manner.
  • The person should be able to triage hierarchy of need at each campus
  • Maintains effective communications with parents.
  • Preserves confidentiality while communicating with parents and other departments about individual children and family needs and progress.
  • Will be required to travel to all 8 campuses of kids u across Calgary.
  • Other duties and responsibilities as required.
Preferred Skills and Qualifications:
  • Experience with accessing PUF funding, FSCD support, and other relevant support systems/agencies
  • Experience with planning and leading professional development opportunities for the staff
  • Be able to work in a Team collaborative environment.
  • Completion of Early Childhood Education Certification required
  • Related training in the area of children with special needs
  • Minimum 2 years with integrated groups of preschool aged children
  • Experience with special needs functional assessment, individual and group program design, and evaluation
  • Experience in the area of Behavior Management
  • Valid First Aid/CPR
  • A valid drivers license and access to a vehicle on a daily basis.
  • Criminal record check/vulnerable sector check, within past 6 months (maybe obtained upon hire)
  • Demonstrated competency in English written and verbal communication
  • Basic computer literacy
  • Ability to lift a min. of 40 lbs. especially when working with infants and toddlers
