At the ENMAX group of companies, we look for energy solutions for today, while knowing we have the power to provide for a better tomorrow.Reporting to the Team Lead, Regulated Market Services Billing and Integration Application Support, the IS Specialist will design new technology solutions, modify, enhance or adapt existing systems and integrate new features or improvements, all with the purpose of improving business efficiency and productivity. The specialist will also identify options for potential new solutions and deliver complete assessments and recommendations for both technical and business suitability.Major Responsibilities:

• Use established fact-finding procedures, knowledge of pertinent work processes and procedures, and familiarity with related programming practices, system software, and computer equipment to provide required analysis of business opportunities and problems
• Define/review process flows and determine automation opportunities
• Perform analysis and design for system conversions and migrations
• Active member of a team working in all phases of the software development life cycle including design, development, testing and implementation
• Prepare and present “train the trainer” on assigned applications to business partners as needed
• Position requires after-hours support

Education Required:

• University degree in Computer Science or Software Engineering

Qualifications & Experience:

• Minimum of eight years of well-rounded business application development and support experience
• Three years system analysis experience is required
• Intermediate to advanced SQL/PLSQL skills
• Working knowledge of current programming languages including, .NET and Java
• Experience in Informatica, SnapLogic or other ETL Tools and knowledge of ETL concepts and practices
• Informatica system administration
• Software Design, Software Documentation, Software Testing, Software Maintenance, Software Development Process, Software Requirements
• Experience working in both a regulated and de-regulated electric utility environment, specifically the Alberta market, is considered an asset
• Working knowledge of the AUC/AESO rules and procedures is highly desirable
• Perform preventive maintenance on applications including system monitoring, patching and upgrading
• Application working knowledge of Oracle databases and SQL Server
• Experience with SUSE Linux or similar UNIX/Linux environments, shell scripts (UNIX, Windows)
• Experience in data analytics considered an asset

Competencies:

• Prepare and deliver presentations to both Business unit and other IT resources
• Well-organized, able to deliver results with minimal supervision, able to adjust to rapidly changing priorities
• Excellent oral and written communication skills with a demonstrated ability to convey complex concepts in an easily understood manner
• Experience with developing, deploying and supporting cloud based technology solutions in Azure
