Job Description

Hey There Beer Makers!Cold Garden is a microbrewery based in the Inglewood neighborhood of Calgary. We currently run a 7hl direct fire brewhouse double batching in to 15hl fermenters (and sometimes tripling into 24s).We are looking for a new production team member to both run the brewhouse and work in the cellar. Your time would be split between both.Standard Brewery Fare:

  • Handling Ingredients
  • Brewing wort
  • Fermentation Monitoring & Control
  • Cold side ingredient additions
  • Yeast Management
  • Barrel Management
  • Recipe Formulation
  • Cellaring: Transferring beer; Dry-Hopping and figuring out how to add other sometimes strange ingredients to a fermenter; CIP Always All Ways; Packaging Into Kegs; Keg Washing; Bottling and Canning.
  • QC & Sensory
  • Working with front of house staff to ensure cohesion between production and a very busy tasting room.
  • Must be a mega safe operator.
Requirements:
  • Brewing/brewery experience or brewing education is a requirement.
  • We need you to know your way around a brewery and how beer is made, but more importantly we want you to be able to learn and be passionate about being a part of our team.
  • You need to be supremely tidy and organized and obsessed with shiny stainless steel.
  • This job is very physical. You must be able to easily handle 55lbs of grain and maneuver a full 160lb keg, many times a day.

Other Stuff:
  • This is a salaried position based on a 40-hour work week
  • Beer can be unpredictable; sometimes you’ll need to have a flexible schedule.
  • If you work here you’re pretty damn cool and you’re going to make great beer and because of that people will want to party with you, so sometimes you will be called upon to rep the company at the odd event or festival.
  • You will basically become a social media superstar because of all the beer release videos you will star in.
  • Nobody will know the Cold Garden beers better than you so, on occasion, well need you to communicate with, and help train, the front of house staff on the rad brew you just crafted.
