We know that blending diverse cultures with our long-standing traditions makes community spirit thrive.Position SummaryThe Broadcast Advertising Sales Specialist is a seasonal, part-time role and a member of the Programming Department, reporting to the Producer, Broadcast, Content & Event Presentation. The position is responsible for the full sales cycle of advertising opportunities of the broadcast properties for the Calgary Stampede’s sporting events (Rodeo & Cowboys Rangeland Derby Chuckwagon Racing). The role is responsible for both traditional advertising sales (i.e. commercial broadcast advertising) as well in-show branding opportunities. The Sales Specialist is relied on for developing relationships with brands across North America to take advantage of the Stampede’s unique revenue generation opportunities as a domestic producer of sports broadcasts.The Broadcast Advertising Sales Specialist role is a Seasonal - Casual Part Time position.Note: The closing date for this opportunity is: January 6, 2023Roles and Responsibilities

  • Build and maintain list of prospective advertisers across North America
  • Prioritize and organize sales pipeline
  • Manage all aspects of lead lifecycles for broadcast advertising opportunities, from initial prospecting to hosting during the 10 Day Stampede to ensuring final accounts are reconciled
  • Achieve annual sales targets
  • Negotiate and close advertising agreements with clients
  • Develop advertising solutions
  • Maintain inventory records of available advertising opportunities
  • Collaborate with internal and external partners to maximize revenue opportunities
  • Be an expert in advertising products and advertising best practices
Qualifications and Education Requirements
  • Post-secondary Diploma or Associate Degree in Business Management, Marketing, Advertising, Broadcasting, Sports Management or related field
  • 3 - 5 years of relevant work experience in sales (advertising sales experience considered an asset)
  • Skilled relationship builder with experience developing and maintaining client relationships
  • High levels of initiative, self-motivation, and time management
  • Motivation to achieve sales targets
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Strong Microsoft Word, PowerPoint, and Excel skills
  • Familiarity with rodeo and chuckwagon events considered an asset
  • Courteous, people-person with a professional manner and an ability to function effectively in group situations
  • Full comprehension of event safety
  • Ability to represent the Calgary Stampede as a brand ambassador, both in person and in a remote setting, to prospective and existing clients
  • Note that remuneration for this role is not based on commission
