A career at InnVest will provide you with unrivaled opportunities and invaluable exposure to Canada’s largest independently-owned and operated hotel portfolio.THE HOTEL:Dual branded in the East Village of Calgary’s Downtown, our 198 room Hilton Garden Inn and 122 suite Homewood Suites, with 4,000 sq. ft. of naturally lit meeting space, restaurant, lounge, and indoor pool are adjacent to Calgary’s award winning Central Public Library, and one block Studio Bell. Conveniently located just one block from City Hall train station.THE ROLE: Maintenance contribute to the overall success of the hotels by responding to guests’ needs in an efficient and friendly manner; and ensuring the hotels’ guest rooms, public areas, and heart of house areas are maintained in a safe, economical, and reasonable manner, and available for sale each night.THE BENEFITS:As a full-time role, this role is eligible for employer-paid extended health care after 6 months, free staff meals, discounted room rates through the Go Hilton travel program, and participation in the employee referral program.KEY ACTIVITIES: The duties and responsibilities for Maintenance include, but are not limited to the following:· Responsible for the day to day maintenance of the property.· Respond to Front desk calls, assisting in checking rooms, luggage delivery and guest requests.· Perform room and public area inspections and preventative maintenance on a routine basis. Communicate any unrepairable deficiencies to supervisor.· Anticipate, identify and correct system breakdowns to achieve guest and team member satisfaction.· Complete routine inspections on life safety systems (e.g. fire exinguishers, smoke detectors).· Respond to emergency situations as required, including use of water, electrical, gas, and thermal emergency shutoffs if required.· Refurbish furniture and fixtures within the hotel such as cabinets, tables, chairs, doors, drywall, windows and counters. Paint and finish furniture and fixtures, as needed.· Perform general minor repairs and routine maintenance to property plumbing, electrical, refrigeration, kitchen equipment, appliances, electronics, and HVAC systems.· Maintain pool facilities in clean and orderly condition. Test and balance pool and hot tub twice daily. Prepare weekly water samples.· Maintain exterior of the building, including gardens, snow and ice removal, and debris removal, keeping the hotel’s appearance at its best.· Ensure all guests receive prompt attention, providing value-added service by doing whatever is reasonable and possible to exceed guest expectations.COMPETENCIES WE ARE SEEKING: · Minimum 3 years experience working with tools. Previous hotel experience preferred. Relevant building maintenance / operator work experience an asset.· Flexibility to keep a work schedule that meets the fluctuating business levels of a hotel (evenings, days, weekends, and holidays)· Completion of High School, GED or equivalent required.· Excellent customer service, time management, organization, attention to detail and initiative.· Natural problem solver with general curiousity for how things work.· Clear verbal communication skills.· Job requires considerable walking and standing for long periods of time, frequent and repetitive lifting, reaching, bending, stretching, pulling, pushing and twisting.· WHMIS required. Pool Operators Certificate to be obtained.· Previous experience with Building Automation System an asset.InnVest Hotels is an inclusive employer.
