Job Description

Business Data Analyst - (2212426)The Opportunity:Canadian Natural is looking for a self-motivated, experienced Business Data Analyst.Valid data requires a secure system implementing a robust process while enabling operational simplicity and flexibility. The Business Data Analyst will perform the essential functions of analyzing current data process, diagnosing issues and designing opportunities which improve data validity.This position is with the Development Operations team, which will provide you with exposure to many professional disciplines. You will develop your career as you gain experience analyzing, creating and improving software/data systems for a multitude of end users and managers. The Development Operations team is passionate about supporting our fast-paced organization by improving our data systems and processes. Your ability to problem-solve, understand data systems and your analytical skills will enable you to provide effective analysis of business data problems.Key Accountabilities:

  • Analyze current business data systems, improve data process, accuracy and eliminate waste in workflows
  • Assess data definitions, database design, user workflows, data storage, manipulation and system interfaces, management summarization and reporting
  • Effective communication both interpersonally and electronically; Excel, Word, Outlook, Visio, SQL (Oracle), Tableau, Power BI, etc.
  • Utilize various systems to diagnose, design, develop, test, and maintain software to support the goals of our business: Visual Studio (VB.net, C#.net), SQL (Oracle), Tableau, MS VBA (Excel, Access), etc. Experience with these tools and concepts is essential
  • Experience with Progressive Web Apps is also beneficial

  • Job location: Calgary, Alberta
  • Shift schedule: 5 x 2, Monday - Friday, 8hr/days
  • Eligible for relocation pursuant to Canadian Natural’s relocation policy

Skills & Qualifications:
  • Minimum 3 years of diverse and well-rounded data systems experience, preferably in the oil and gas industry
  • A university degree or technical diploma in a related discipline
  • Proven ability to work effectively both independently and within a team environment
  • Strong organizational skills remaining highly analytical while being able to manage several projects concurrently
  • A proven team player with strong interpersonal and communication skills to develop and maintain collaborative working relationships while demonstrating a high level of cooperation and mutual respect
  • Demonstrated competence with office productivity software as well as database software development tools and concepts
