Job Description

SAIT’s School for Advanced Digital Technology is our boldest transformation to date — a new tech-driven training hub, arming students with the digital skills needed to re-imagine their career. We are looking for unique, inspirational, sky-is-the-limit individuals to join the team of this one-of-a-kind school.The OpportunityOur Fast-Track programs are scheduled in an intensive daytime format to suit a diverse learner population, ranging from students upgrading foreign credentials to those changing careers mid-life. The instructor is to make use of all available resources, methods, techniques and strategies, to ensure student success. The candidate is expected to work collaboratively with colleagues, and to create a learning environment which is pedagogically sound, technically supported and innovative in nature.We are currently recruiting for multiple adjunct instructors for potential contracts between September 2022 and April 2023.The Role

    • Reporting to the Academic Chair, this position requires knowledge and skills to instruct in the Database Administrator Program. The most important component is a keen desire to teach and help students learn – we are a team of instructors, and we can support candidates in learning specific technologies and applications.
    • Currently, technical skills taught in the program include:
    • Oracle 12i, 19c, Oracle backup and recovery, performance and tuning, security, SQL Server, data warehousing
    • This is a “point in time” snapshot of these technologies; we are continually evolving the skills our graduates possess.It is expected that the instructor will:
    • Provide ongoing support, guidance and advice to learners
    • Prepare additional study and lab materials for learners (curriculum maintenance)
    • Use a variety of instructional techniques to promote learning and personal development
    • Show personal interest in the learner and create a respectful climate conducive to optimal learning
    • Manage the classroom or lab to the benefit of the learners
    • Demonstrate competencies in leadership, communication, teamwork, problem solving, emotional intelligence, and time management
Qualifications & Experience
    • Minimum of 3-5 years related experience in information technology, specifically in database administration
    • Previous teaching, training, or mentoring experience is preferred (e.g., corporate training, developer coach, bootcamp instruction, etc.). Please include a brief statement of your teaching philosophy and a summary of learner feedback you’ve received.
    • Post-secondary education in a related field or equivalent industry training
    • Majors in computer science, computer systems, adult education, vocational / technical education, or similar would be considered beneficial
