Job Description

Felix Smart Inc. is a leading developer of AI smart controllers and monitors for the agricultural, pet and home IOT market. We are based in Calgary, Alberta, Canada and we are currently hiring for the position of Chief Technology Officer (CTO)Come and join an innovative and collaborative team and be challenged to do the best work of your career!This position is for full time, in person and permanent employment for our Calgary office. Remote workers need not apply. The Chief Technology Officer (CTO) reports to the CEO and is primarily responsible for setting the technology vision and strategy for the company. This position requires a high level of managerial experience. Preferences will be given to candidates with a proven history of managing teams of 10+ more persons.KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Builds, aggregates and fosters the technology teams, leading them to achieve and exceed short and long term objectives of the technology organization
  • Establishes and communicates technology vision and strategy to deliver on Scanline
  • Oversee and assist in the development of new code to improve on existing firmware and software
  • Oversees all aspects of the companys technology needs, including operational support, infrastructure maintenance, software development, production pipeline support, information security, and software and hardware purchases.
  • Provides clear technology leadership to articulate the vision to improve efficiency and creative excellence.
  • Plan and oversee implementation of machine learning algorithms and processes
  • Establishes and owns technology budgets balancing spending and technology capability to ensure ROI of technology investments
  • Maintains close relationships with software and hardware vendors to leverage and influence technology roadmaps and partner alliance activities
QUALIFICATIONS & EXPERIENCE
  • Masters Degree or higher in Computer Science
  • MBA or 10+ years management experience
  • Sr. Level Experience developing Open WRT firmware that can access low-level kernel, write custom kernel modules and other low level Linux programming.
  • Sr. Level developing python code (from 2.7 to 3.9) that interfaces with low-level systems and networks, analyzes data sets from multiple sources and servers in the cloud.
  • Sr. Level with video applications like GSTREAMER or similar.
  • Experience with developing Cloud Functions on Firebase Servers using Typescript
  • Experience with software and app development
  • Proficient in English and Spanish
PROGRAMMING LANGUAGES
  • Sr Level - Python, R and Fortran
  • Junior Level – TypeScript and VS Code
