Job Description

Child Care Aid - New Brighton CampusKids U is a growing Accredited Early Childhood Learning Institute in Calgary and Strathmore guided by our Core Values of Knowledge, Innovate, Development, Service and Upliftment. Best Daycare & Best Preschool 2021 !**The OpportunityWe are currently looking for a Full-Time Child Care Aid at our New Brighton location. Hours of Work: Mondays to Fridays - 9:00AM to 3:00PM (Schedule is subject to change)If you are looking for an opportunity to make a difference in the lives of young children and their families, apply now!Key Accountabilities & Responsibilities

  • Assists in providing daycare support and student self-care (dressing, toileting/diapering etc.)
  • Participates in providing one-on-one support in the classroom while promoting a safe, calm and positive learning environment
  • Observe and record all behaviors, write incident reports when needed
  • Manage inappropriate behavior, including implementation of physical restraint techniques when required and approved by Kids U guidelines
  • Prepare classroom material, when it falls outside of the classroom curriculum
  • Demonstrates initiative and independence in the management of class time and routines
  • Performs physically demanding tasks to meet the unique and personal needs of the child
Preferred Skills & Qualifications
  • Physically able to meet all physical demands for this position (ability to lift 50lbs)
  • Understand and support high behavioral needs in a classroom setting and can work collaboratively with classroom teachers and other assistants
  • EA certification or ECE level 1 or Child and Youth Care Worker Diploma or a Diploma in a related field of study or Education Assistant Certificate with demonstrated knowledge, skills, and training in behavior disabilities
  • High School Diploma and 3 years’ experience working with behavior disabilities students
  • Minimum 1 year experience working with children with developmental delays and/or high behavioral needs (e.g., Autism, ADHD, ODD)
  • Some knowledge of developmental delays and disorders (preference)
  • Successful completion of training in nonviolent crisis intervention (asset)
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills with team members, can take constructive criticism and learn to adapt or modify current techniques where needed to adequately support the child and classrooms need.
