About this OpportunityAre you looking for a unique and challenging career Are you excited by the thought of working with chocolate and making delightful confections Cochu offers a rare opportunity to apprentice with a Six Star Grandmaster Chocolatier who has won multiple international awards. We seek a candidate who is self-motivated, a team player and a quick and attentive learner who enjoys working in a fast-paced environment. As part of the Production Team, the Chocolatier Apprentice will assist in the production of our spectacular chocolates while maintaining the high standards of quality and care that go into all aspects of our company. This position has the potential to grow to a more senior position.Expectations:

  • Full-time position, primarily daytime shifts Monday - Friday with an option to switch to occasional evening and/or weekend shifts.
  • Adhere to our Employee Handbook, Good Manufacturing Practices, Alberta Health Services Food Safety requirements and cochus quality control standards.
Tasks
  • Working directly with the head chocolatier in various capacities to acquire chocolate-making skills and independence in a variety of production areas.
  • Food preparation (making caramel, ganache, fruit purees).
  • Cleaning and preparing moulds and trays for production.
  • Assisting with managing production inventory by receiving products, taking inventory and putting into storage, as well as notifying the office staff when items need to be re-ordered.
  • Maintaining a clean and organized space, following proper cleaning and sanitation procedures, particularly in relation to the COVID Policy.
  • Helping maintain the highest level of cleanliness in the facility according to AHS guidelines with strict adherence to the food manufacturing industry defined cleaning schedule.
  • Occasional support for the packaging and retail staff may be requested, to perform tasks such as packaging products for storage, sale or shipping and providing retail support.
