About MRUFounded in 1910 and located in Calgary, Alberta, Canada, Mount Royal University grew into a vibrant college in the 1930s and became a mid-sized university in 2009. Mount Royal has carved out a distinct niche by offering smaller class sizes, a robust liberal education and unique undergraduate programs. The theatres are operated as a revenue-generating community resource and are a strategic asset to the University.Mount Royal University’s Box Office is responsible for regular box office sales duties in Mount Royal University Theatres and the Taylor Centre for the Performing Arts performance venues and will always provide superior customer service assistance to all theatre rental clients and event patrons.About the RoleIn the Event and Conference Services area, the Client Liaison (CL) will have a keen focus on an exceptional client experience. The CL is a direct extension of the Event Specialists and is responsible for assisting with the set-up and on-site support of conferences, events and meeting services. The Client Liaison is the key contact point for clients and guests and has the ability to creatively and calmly solve issues that arise before and during events. Typical service locations include Ross Glen Hall, meeting rooms, breakout spaces as well as other MRU spaces on a case by case basis. The Client Liaison will be available to work varied shifts including weekdays, evenings and weekends.Position Duties and Responsibilities

  • Welcoming clients and guests and providing information, directions and on-site assistance.
  • Assisting with on-site support for all Event and Conference Services events including room and food service checks, event signage and coat check service to ensure services are precise and as requested as part of event-day responsibilities
  • Set-up and troubleshooting A/V services.
  • Oversight of bar services and ability to assist directly with re-stocking, set-up and direct bar services
  • Full sweep of conference centre spaces at the end of each night to ensure catering and other materials have been removed.
  • Acting as the main point of contact for clients at events while being available in person and by phone.
  • Assisting Event Specialists with event, conference, performance and meeting details.
  • Assisting with routine administrative support (e.g. filing, processing documents etc).
  • Working independently and in a team environment.
  • Assisting with venue snow removal and other safety measures if snow accumulation deters venue access and egress.
  • Working flexible hours which include weekday, evening weekend shifts as required.
Qualifications and Required Skills
  • Strong customer service and communication skills
  • Must be available to work weekday mornings, evenings and weekends. Shifts may start as early as 6:00 a.m. and run as late as 1:00 a.m.
  • Experience working in a hospitality or events related environment desirable
  • Ability to problem solve and troubleshoot on the spot with clients and guests as needed.
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment
  • Operational knowledge of audio/visual equipment
  • Strong knowledge in computer usage and applications in Microsoft and Google applications.
  • ProServe certification required (can be acquired upon hiring)
  • First Aid certification is preferred (can be acquired upon hiring)
  • Grade 12 or equivalent
  • Must be 18 years of age or older
