This position is part of the Global News team which produces local newscasts 7 – days a week. This position reports directly to the Director, Community Promotions & Sales Integrations.Responsibilities:The following is a paraphrase of the primary functions, but does not outline all of the duties and responsibilities that may be assigned to this position:Daily reporting of Community Events and journalism related to commercial partners as approved by the News departmentCreate relationships with Community organizationsGenerate original and relative Community focused story ideasAssist Sales with content brainstorming and executionWrite, produce and post content with multiple deadlines on a daily basis for television, radio and on-lineUtilize new technology and social media on a daily basis to provide video, stills and streaming video for online, social media and broadcastOccasional live reportingRepresent Global Calgary at public functionsAvailable to work weekdays, evenings and weekendsPerform other duties as assignedAbout YouWhat We Need From You:The successful candidate will possess the following qualifications:Diploma/Degree in Journalism/Broadcasting or equivalent experienceExperienced journalist capable of reporting and Community EventsMinimum two years prior reporting/anchoring experience is requiredStrong writing and storytelling skillsDemonstrate strong news judgment in line with station objectivesAbility to go live from the field with strong presentation skills and clarityStrong problem solving skillsAbility to adjust to changing priorities and objectivesAbility to work independentlyMust demonstrate accountability and teamworkMust work well under pressure, possess a desire to be the best, have a positive can-do attitudeBe able to meet strict deadlines, and work co-operatively with others in a teamwork settingPossess a valid driver’s license and clear driving recordWillingness to adapt to rapidly changing technology and workflows as well as show a willingness to learn new online skills in a multi-faceted digital news operationWhy CorusCorus is a driving force in the media industry with a diverse portfolio of strong brands that entertain and inform audiences through great storytelling and compelling content, reaching millions of people around the world every day.We have a passionate drive to connect with the world around us: to express, to share, to be part of people's lives.
