GeoVerra is currently seeking a Crew Chief to join our Geomatics team in Calgary, AB for Fly-in Fly-out work in Kitimat, B.C. on a 2 and 1 rotation. Reporting to the Field Crew Coordinator, this position will be will be responsible for performing field survey work on projects in the construction, pipeline, oil and gas, land development and legal land surveying industries.Apply through this posting for your application to be considered for our weekly interviews being held for these roles.Key Position DetailsFull time, flexible benefits program, RRSP match, wellness days, and paid vacation time2 weeks on and 1 week off rotation10-hour day and night shifts (night shifts receive premiums)Travel to and from Kitimat site and accommodation includedPaid training for all safety tickets requiredKey ResponsibilitiesManage and perform field survey work with the help of Survey Assistants;Liaise with Project Managers to coordinate field survey work, to review and manage project budgets, timeline requirements, priorities and survey methodology;Act as a company representative, liaising directly with client field representatives and land owners;Prepare and communicate field notes, sketches, checklists and digital data in required formats for Project Managers, Land Surveyors and Drafting personnel;Provide guidance and mentorship to Survey Assistants working with you;Contribute to the development and implementation of industry best practices, more efficient field processes and procedures and the innovative use of new technology;Actively participate in and proactively support the advancement of the GeoVerra safety program;Some office technical survey work may be required in this position; andOther duties as assigned/required.Required Skills, Experience, & BehavioursOur successful candidate will be a graduate of a recognized post-secondary program related to surveying and geomatics or have an equivalent amount of related experience;Minimum 1 year of experience in a Construction Survey Crew Chief role;Strong working knowledge of survey equipment and software such as GPS and Total Stations (Including Robotic);Knowledge and experience of Trimble equipment and software, laser scanning and line locating would be considered an asset;Strong problem solving skills in a field environment;Effective communication skills - verbal and written; ability to produce accurate and legible field notes;The ability to develop and motivate survey staff and work well in a team environment;An aptitude for delivering projects on time and budget;A valid driver’s license and can provide a clean driver’s abstract; andPre Employment Drug and Alcohol Testing;All employment offers for Safety Sensitive positions are conditional upon the successful completion of a Negative Drug Screen and Passing Alcohol Screen.Working ConditionsOut of town work and frequent travel required;Ability to carry, lift and push 50lbs+ on a regular basis;Ability to work outside in all weather conditions;GeoVerra has every intention of fostering diversity within and across our organization.
