This designer will work closely with AVP of Design and design team with a focus to create quality and wearable product that align with company vision and seasonal direction. A key responsibility is to communicate with cross functional teams from concept to production to ensure company product standards are met and PD development calendar are maintained. At Canadian Tire we work flexibility embracing ‘Hybrid’ whereby individuals utilize a combination of working at a CTC campus and or virtually in service of outcomes. Determined by managers, decisions around work location will be made based on business and team needs and grounded in a desire to support individual well-being and personal needs.   • Collaborate with AVP of Design and Design team to create product that is brand right and aligns with seasonal direction
  • Research seasonal key trends, color, fabric, silhouette and innovation
  • Develop CAD and initial specification packages for all designs
  • Prepare and maintain presentation boards and line sheets
  • Partner across functional departments, such as merchandising, production and sourcing
  • Attend fittings with product managers and technical developers ensure product quality, design and standards
  • Facilitate in fabric selection
  • Assist in approving trims, lab dips, hand looms, strike offs and knit downs
  • Work with manager to adhere to corporate calendar timing and brand guide
What you bring
  • Advanced proficiency in Adobe Suite, Illustrator and Photoshop is essential
  • Proven ability to maintain a high standard of design and productivity in a fast-paced work environment
  • Talent in understanding target customer by creating profitable product lines
  • Solid comprehension of garment construction, garment specifications and critical product construction
  • Must have an eye for detail, color and creativity combined with fashion industry insight
  • Strong interpersonal, communication and presentation skills
  • Graphic design experience is an asset
  • 3D design experience is an asset
  • Some travel for trade shows and trend shopping is required.
  • Degree in Fashion Design
  • 3-5 years working experience within a Fashion/Apparel Design role or related position
