Job Description

Your Opportunity:The Provincial Coordinator is part of the AHS Mental Health & Justice team of Provincial Addiction and Mental Health. Reporting directly to the Manager, this temporary position will contribute to the ongoing grant work to Expand Family Violence Services for Indigenous, Rural and Remote Communities. The successful candidate can be located anywhere in the province. The Domestic Abuse Response Team (DART) is a partnership with AHS/Covenant Health staff and community funded agencies. DART expansion is ongoing and offers a rapid response between the disclosure of family violence and community resources. The Provincial Family Violence Treatment Program (PFVTP) coordinates with Alberta Justice & Solicitor General (JSG), Children’s Services (CS) and AHS and currently offers treatment services in 25 communities across the province. This position will assist with community engagement and be closely involved in a variety of deliverables to support the ongoing expansion of the DART and PFVTP including needs assessments; ensuring the delivery of consistent information by providing information sharing webinars and facilitating education/training/community of practices to service providers, front line, and agency staff. This position will take part in ensuring community accountability through monitoring and reporting, quality improvement initiatives and in providing community support by coordinating with multiple partners, including AHS/Covenant Health zone leads/staff, JSG, CS, and funded agencies as needed. The successful candidate will provide leadership, consultation, and work collaboratively with front line healthcare providers and other stakeholders to identify system barriers, standardize practice and enhance the practice of screening and service delivery.Description:The Provincial Coordinator is part of the AHS Mental Health & Justice team of Provincial Addiction and Mental Health. Required Qualifications:A minimum of a Bachelor’s degree in an area related to social sciences, health or health related area or related education. Professional affiliation and current registration with regulatory body required. Background and/or understanding of the interface between our clients and the criminal justice system, with preference for those that have experience in family violence screening and/or intervention. Equivalencies of education and experience may be considered.Additional Required Qualifications:In addition to education, strong experience in programs related to Mental & Justice with front line experience in the delivery of family violence screening and treatment programs or ancillary (e.g., addiction or mental health treatment for perpetrators or services for victims). Strong program development, strategic planning for programs, inclusive of understanding of monitoring for such programs on a provincial level for adherence to Service Operating Requirements (SORs). Good understanding of program development, change management, evaluation, and ability to work in a collaborative team environment with both provincial and zone staff. Good community facilitation and issue resolution skill set. Excellent interpersonal skills & demonstrated ability to work on a dynamic team and handle competing demands in a fast-paced and challenging environment. High degree of professionalism in dealing with urgent requests, sensitive information and situations involving conflict. Excellent critical thinking, leadership skills and problem-solving skills; able to apply these skills at a systems level to plan, problem solve, and organize multiple tasks and priorities simultaneously. Application of adult teaching and learning principles. Proficient with technology, e.g., Microsoft Office, Zoom, MS Teams, etc. and experience with change management.Preferred Qualifications:Masters’ prepared individuals with focus on social sciences, health or health related areas or education. Experience in family violence screening & /or intervention. Education & experience with health, addiction & mental health & justice system related programs. Prior experience engaging with the First Nation Reserves & Metis settlements that resulted in established relationships & implementation of program delivery. Experience with Indigenous Health & understanding of Indigenous peoples.Quick Apply
