Job Description

Your Opportunity:This opportunity is a temporary Maternity LOA coverage position. Reporting to the Director, Manager, Project Team Lead, Healthcare Equipment Planner (HEP) or Healthcare Furnishings Planner (HFP) as applicable, the Furnishing & Equipment Coordinator (FEC) is responsible for multiple related activities that support the successful planning, procurement and deployment of Furnishings & Equipment (F&E) required for major & minor capital projects. The FEC assists the (HEP) and/or (HFP) to provide technical, clinical and application expertise, project management and budgetary management in the planning and acquisition of required F&E items. The FEC will also assist in the creation of technical cut sheets, project documentation, developing & maintaining detailed equipment lists and supporting internal and external process approvals. Where appropriate the FEC will assist in developing detailed F&E technical performance specifications and procurement strategies. The FEC may also attend project programming & design meetings and where directed, initiate & maintain ongoing coordination and consultation with AHS/GOA project managers & coordinators as well as physicians, clinicians, various internal AHS department members, external consultants, engineers and architects throughout the project lifecycle. The FEC as directed may also provide various reports and communications to all project stakeholders. When required the FEC will provide onsite support to department Equipment Installation Coordinators (EIC’s). The FEC must be capable of lifting, carrying and moving items up to 20 KG, as well as lifting items up to 10KG over their heads. Occasionally, the FEC may be required to provide administrative support for the department.Description:As a Coordinator I, you will require specialized skills and knowledge to support complex projects, procedures, practices or initiatives within a department, program or business unit.

Required Qualifications:Completion of post-secondary degree or diploma in a related field or equivalent.Additional Required Qualifications:A background as a Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN), Respiratory Therapists, Biomedical Technologist, Architectural Technologist or Interior Design Technologist with healthcare experience is required for this position. Other combinations of education and experience may be considered. Applicants should have 1 to 3 years hospital clinical experience or experience in a healthcare or similar environment with an understanding of clinical practice and patient care. The incumbent needs to be comfortable working with clinical & non-clinical staff, senior management, physicians, vendors, external consultants, architects engineer, members of AHS internal departments, members of Government of Alberta ministries and patient/family representatives. The incumbent will require a medical terminology course and the ability to understand clinical and medical terminology in addition to the ability to read and interpret design drawings and engineering specifications as well as contract documents. Strong proven keyboarding/data entry, computing, communication, and writing skills are also essential. Applicants with knowledge of design and construction practices along with experience using computer aided drafting programs in addition to knowledge and experience with project management & change management practices will also be favored.Preferred Qualifications:The successful applicant should be a motivated self-starter. They should also possess a strong positive attitude, excellent communication skills and a desire to lead by example. This position is required to travel to healthcare projects throughout the province. Working out of the local area for short period or consecutive days is also required. Possession of a valid driver’s license and access to a motor vehicle in good repair for work-related travel is also required.Quick Apply
