Antyx (www.antyx.org) is growing in 2022 and we are looking for more staff to support our youth programming.Antyx is a youth serving community arts charity that uses the arts and community development processes to create opportunities for youth to become more engaged in their community and experience increased community connection. Our community arts strategy involves developing collaborative community arts projects that engage youth and communities. Projects are planned with community partners and direct input from youth. Past projects have included: community murals, performances of plays reflecting community issues, video and music projects.Antyx was formed on January 1, 2010, when All Nations Theatre and Urban Youth Worx (ANT/UYW) merged and began operating as a single community arts organization. All Nations Theatre has worked in Calgary since 1992, engaging youth in participatory theatre projects that explored issues identified by youth. Founded in 1998, Urban Youth Worx has supported the development of Arts-based community development projects across Calgary. The creation of Antyx through the consolidation of All Nations Theatre and Urban Youth Worx has created tremendous opportunities to engage youth and communities in using the arts to explore critical issues and make positive social change!Office Locations: Southview Community Hall (Sunday)Contemporary Calgary (Monday)Genesis Centre Falconridge (Tuesday)Position: Part-Time Creative Arts Facilitator (0.5)Salary: $25,000 annuallyAdditional Compensation and Benefits: · 1.25 days per month (15 days) in the first year· Automatic year start (20 days) in the 2nd to 5th year· Automatic year start (25 days) after 5 years· Extended Health and Dental insurance program following completion of probationary period.· 3 annual bonus Health and Wellness DaysWork Hours: 20 hours per week Sunday-Tuesday, except STAT.Sunday 1:00-7:00pmMonday 12:00-7:00pmTuesday 12:00-7:00pmBreaks according to Alberta Labour Standards may be taken any reasonable time in a day, ensuring they are taken appropriately and consistently.Responsibilities: The Facilitator position is the vital program delivery role at Antyx. This role facilitates the offerings in which Antyx exists to provide. This position is primarily responsible for ensuring the art programs include intentional SEL (Social Emotional Learning) outcomes aligning with FCSS funding requirements and Antyx priority areas exclusively with youth aged 12-18 years. This role can creatively design program offerings and plot how the intentional outcomes are achieved in the program. Direction will be given on outcomes, with the facilitator having creative control in designing offerings that achieve the outcome targets. This role will specifically work with youth on racial, societal, mental health, BIPOC, economic, and inclusion topics whenever possible. Supporting local youth who wish to explore art as a way to express, heal, connect, and be inspired.Specific Duties and Expectations: - 10-week cycles of programming registration themes. This allows for youth to return for the next cycle if they choose, but naturally creates space for new youth to experience programming. The candidate will create 10 unique lesson plans for each cycle, to be duplicated at all 3 site locations each week. Each cycle should be building up skills competency and preparations for a final art project/mural/installation/performance/showcase. This final showcase can be done in the community (murals) or presented at Contemporary Calgarys auditorium for the public.- Design programs that respond to societal issues and topics that occur organically. On occasion, this may also include responding to funding priority issues identified by either a funder or the Executive Director.- Design art based therapeutic programs that actively appeal to a youth audience based on universal human need and social justice topics related to; healthy relationships, poverty, criminality, racism, inclusion, school success, and mental health that are reflected in relevant community needs reports such as City of Calgary Community Profile and City of Calgary Crime Map for an evidence-based foundation. No program should be developed without either a portion of youth/community members requesting a topic, or without researched community need being addressed.- 60% of contracted weekly time must be spent delivering programming, allowing 40% as planning and preparation. This will include running at minimum 3 separate weekly re-occurring groups.- Attending weekly staff meetings Monday 2-3pm at Contemporary Calgary with all other staff- Programs must be focused specifically on traditional visual art mediums such as; painting, drawing, digital arts, sculptures, community building, school engagement, and cultural activities. It is expected that the art outcome never takes precedence over the youth impact outcome, and the time spent with youth is more valuable than art skills learnt or projects completed. Failure in programs, is always an opportunity for learning for youth, and therefore the staff is not expected to dedicate additional overtime hours to complete unfinished projects for the youth. As such, the staff will avoid time preparing and finishing art when no youth is present or included. All time away from youth should be spent on lesson preparation, supply procurement, community building, and team connection.- It is expected that the Facilitator run programs themselves, with assistance from additional volunteers and practicum students by request, with sufficient time in advance. Contracted artists and elders will only be considered when necessary for their expertise, not for general program facilitation. It is expected that any program under 15 participants is not requiring additional paid supports unless additional specific knowledge or skillsets are required. When budgets specifically include additional supports, it is up to the facilitator to decide when the contracted artists will be needed and encouraged to be used.-This role will be provided a budget for programming each quarter. With the freedom to control the budget, it also will be expected that the budget is tracked with receipts submitted each week to the accountant. A budget YTD report will be provided to the Facilitator each week from the previous weeks expenses to ensure adequate management and foresight.-The programs will aim to have 15 participants on average in each program. Each quarter, programs will have a check-in with the Executive Director. If a program is not meeting attendance needs, the program may need to adjust.Education: We are open to hiring either Social/Community/Youth Workers who have a proven skillset in the arts, or formally trained artists with experience working in non-profits and youth settings.Job Types: Part-time, Fixed term contractContract length: 12 monthsPart-time hours: 20 per weekSalary: $25.00 per hourBenefits:
