Job Description

Position OverviewThe Medicine - Communications Office in the Cumming School of Medicine i is currently seeking a Full-time Temporary Relief CSM Digital Producer for approximately 7 months.This position reports to the Director of Communications, Cumming School of Medicine (CSM).Work is driven by critical deadlines with a high impact of error and as such, requires highly developed management of competing interests and demands. The impact of work quality affects the reputation and the public image of the CSM and university. As such, attention to detail and deep knowledge of technical issues are critical to this position. A high level of professionalism and interpersonal communication skills are critical to this role. The work requires management of competing interests, deadlines, and the ability to manage multiple projects with shifting priorities with little or no supervision.Position DescriptionSummary of Key Responsibilities (job functions include but are not limited to):Website Project Teams

  • Serve as a critical member of the website teams for 208 department and unit website/pages, each consisting of: a Department Head, Associate Dean, or unit Director (editor, approver); faculty member(s) (writer/content experts), departmental website administrator (administrative support for the department including content coordination); Senior Communications Specialists, Digital Producer (web technical support, coding and website building)
  • Lead project team and process for regular revisions of 208 websites and unit pages; lead annual reviews and content retirement process of all website content
  • Act as the liaison between the CSM and the central Digital Experience team in the Office of Advancement for web and eMarketing efforts
  • Create new webpages, make structural refinements to existing websites/pages including testing, evaluation and implementation of new web technologies
  • Offer leadership of website project teams of the technical requirements and functional capabilities
  • Upload major content revisions to new web spaces; solve technical issues using a high degree of judgement, creativity and problem solving skills
  • Lead strategic planning and major revisions to department/unit websites
  • Create and implement a process and schedule for regular review and revisions of 208CSM and department/unit websites
  • Lead daily and weekly content updates on the faculty homepage and for weekly e-newsletters including tracking and uploading daily media clips, events and internal news
  • Implement web buttons, image galleries, video and other website functions to promote events and initiatives on the CSM main page and department homepages
  • Create new webpages and upload major website content edits and revisions, make regular website updates
Digital Assets
  • Demonstrate technical expertise for a client management system (Marketo) for Cumming School of Medicine digital invitations, newsletters, surveys and other digital communications; establish and maintain linkages with the e-Marketing Specialist in the Office of Advancement
  • Establish and maintain linkages with CSM IT around significant web issues and opportunities; liaise with website administrators in academic departments
  • Establish and maintain linkages with staff in the digital marketing team in University Relations
  • Act as a mentor for other team members for digital marketing and communications
  • Edit video for social media, media availabilities and other marketing and communication needs
Qualifications / Requirements:
  • Undergraduate degree or diploma in computer sciences, design or information technology or a combination of education and experience
  • Knowledge and a minimum of five years digital experience in large, complex organizations
  • +3 years of experience with content management systems such as Drupal
  • +3 years of experience with website administration and Google Analytics
  • +3 years of experience with web technologies such as HTML, CSS, PHP and JavaScript
  • Advanced experience managing cross-browser content, responsive and related design issues
  • Advanced experience producing graphic components for the web; ability to configure and manipulate images for the web
  • Advanced experience with design and layout tools such as Adobe CS (InDesign, Photoshop, Illustrator) and knowledge of creative design principles
  • Demonstrated experience in video-editing for the web is considered an asset
  • Ability to deal effectively with complex issues using judgement and initiating resolutions
  • Ability to effectively manage multiple tasks and competing priorities, to meet short deadlines, and maintain the highest standards of quality and attention to detail
  • Demonstrate strong written communication and interpersonal skills
  • Advanced experience working with website project teams including communications/marketing staff, content experts and web analysts; experience leading website project teams is an asset
  • Superlative knowledge of new technologies; remaining at the forefront of trends and technologies; demonstrated ability to experiment with new ideas and tools
  • Advanced experience in organizing and presenting digital content to a variety of audiences
  • Knowledge of the medical/health-care industry would be of benefit
