This position will support our analytical and spatial data resources group within our Environment and Water Practice. Accordingly, the ideal candidates will possess strong interpersonal skills, a commitment to ensuring data quality, and experience with digital environmental data management.RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Providing a reliable and efficient service to technical staff, facilitating efficient report delivery, and ensuring data quality.
  • Interaction with laboratory, contractor, and project team staff.
  • Responsible for entering field and lab data into our central data management system, making project information and data easily accessible to staff.
  • Updating and maintaining our environmental database and ensuring that QA/QC procedures are followed.
  • Developing pragmatic and robust environmental data management policies and procedures, in conjunction with appropriate Environment and Water Practice staff.
  • Supporting export of data from ESDat as required, producing graphical and numerical output from Excel, and ESDat.
QUALIFICATIONS:
  • Bachelors Degree or Technical diploma in Computer Science or Earth or Environmental Sciences.
  • Experience working with environmental and/or analytical data, would be considered an asset.
  • Must be highly organized, with a detail-oriented nature and proven time management abilities.
  • A personable individual who can interact and build strong relationships.
  • A team player who welcomes a role supporting internal clients and working with them to ensure efficient project delivery.
  • Experience using Excel, EQuIS, ESDat, and/or similar data management packages, would be considered an asset.
  • Knowledge of regulatory guideline application in Alberta, British Columbia and the Yukon is considered an asset
  • Experience with laboratory data codes and processes.
  • Understanding of spatial data reference systems, and the use of GPS units and data.
  • Knowledge of field sample collection protocols for groundwater and soils.
  • Strong written and verbal communications skills.
