As such, we welcome talented individuals that have a variety of perspectives, backgrounds, and industry experience who will contribute to the success of our One Parkland team.Position Title: Deskside AnalystTeam and Location: IT - Calgary, AB or Montréal, QCPosition Summary:The Deskside Analyst assists employees of Parkland Corporation with technical support of desktop computers, applications and related technologies. This support will include installation and testing of computer systems, audio-visual and other peripherals within our established standards and guidelines. Activities require interaction with application software and operating systems, to diagnose and resolve unique, non-recurring problems. This position utilizes one-on-one consultancy to end users and Parklands Information Technology team. Responsibilities will include independent analysis, communications, and problem solving; work is performed with little supervision and requires initiative and judgement.Key Responsibilities:

  • Diagnose and resolve unique, nonrecurring problems associated with application software and operating systems; determine the source of problems and classify their level, priority and nature both locally and remotely.
  • OS image deployment, Configure, deploy, maintain, troubleshoot and support computer workstations, laptops, printers, mobile devices, phones and other computer and telecommunications equipment.
  • Install and support PC, laptop, tablet and mobile hardware and software (certifications from CompTIA, Microsoft or HDI are a plus).
  • Participate in hardware and software reviews and recommend purchases.
  • Work with hardware and software vendors to verify timely product delivery and ensure that new equipment is installed and ready to operate on schedule.
  • Analyze and make recommendations for hardware and software standardization.
  • Ensure desktop computers interconnect seamlessly with diverse systems including associated validation systems, file servers, email servers, computer conferencing systems, application servers and administrative systems.
  • Document procedures, standards, best practices configurations, settings, installation sequences and back-out instructions.
  • Provides technical assistance to projects as required.
  • Takes responsibility for assigned activities Track and route problems and requests tickets, and document resolutions Identify, prioritize, and escalate situations requiring urgent attention.
Qualifications and Skills:
  • Diploma or Associate degree in Computer Science or Technology required.
  • Minimum of four years in a desktop support or equivalent position.
  • MCSA Windows 10, Comptia A+, or HDI Desktop Support Technician designation desirable.
  • ITIL Foundations V3 or V4 Certification is preferred.
  • Advanced knowledge of Microsoft operating systems, computer hardware, and peripherals.
  • MS Teams experience would be an asset.
  • Mobility support experience is an asset.
  • Highly developed problem-solving skills utilizing analysis reflecting good judgements.
  • Takes responsibility for assigned activities until complete resolution and user satisfaction.
  • Excellent communication/interpersonal skills are required to maintain and build positive customer relations through regular communications and deskside visits when necessary.
