Job Description

Project/Program Overview: The Development Services Team has an opportunity for an intermediate/working level team member. The Development Services group is a unique group within the Engineering Support Services. The prospective employee will report to the Development Services manager and will be supporting the engineering community in a wide variety of work. This work will include but not limited to server support, application support, networking support, software builds and documentation. The successful applicant will be expected to perform duties in a variety of different capacities.This role will be a combination of working remotely and onsite at our Calgary office. We have a number of measures in place for onsite working – our top priority remains the health and safety of our colleagues This role encompassed a diverse range of responsibilities as the team deals with mulitple programs and functional aspects of the company.You will participate in a diverse variety of tasks. Here is a sample of the kinds of things you will be involved in:*Evaluating, prototyping, and rolling out new tools and technologies to improve the way we build products and help projects deliver to our customers

  • Integrating tools together and automating their provisioning, configuration, and management
  • Writing software and scripts necessary to deploy solutions and automate tasks
  • Developing automated tests for new and updated functionality
  • Building and maintaining infrastructure to support the team
  • Developing, streamlining, and communicating processes and best practices
  • Asssisting programs in the deliverable products to customers
  • Mentoring junior members of the team.
The role will rely on the individual being a subject matter expertise on a number of topics related to the above responsibilities.Basic Qualifications: Essential Qualifications:
  • Bachelor’s Degree or College Diploma in Engineering, Computer Science, or equivalent
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills
  • Ability to thrive in a remote work or distributed environment
  • Experience developing and deploying software in a Linux environment
  • Experience with DevOps practices such as CI/CD and infrastructure management
  • Experience with any of containers, Kubernetes, or cloud
  • Development experience with at least one of Python or Go
  • Ability to analyze complex issues, develop and recommend options, and implement solutions
  • Experience with Linux and commandline interface
  • Experiences with Scripting languages such as Perl, Python, etc
  • Experience with Window Operating Systems
  • Must be able to obtain and maintain Canadian Security Clearance and a positive Controlled Goods Assessment. Eligibility to work in Canada either as a Canadian Citizen or Permanent Resident.
Nice to have skills:
  • Experience with Networking and LAN knowledge(Cisco, etc)
  • Familarity with engineering tools such as GITlab, Artifactory, Confluence and IBM Engineering Lifecycle Management.
