We invest in our people because they are the reason for our success.For more information, check out this video about Working at BethanyDevelopment Officer SummaryReporting to the Director, Philanthropy of Bethany Care Foundation, the Development Officer is responsible for building relationships with community stakeholders to advance the mission of Bethany and the common fundraising goals of Bethany Care Society and the Foundation. As part of a small team, this role contributes to the creation and successful execution of a comprehensive fund development growth strategy in support of the strategic priorities of Bethany.Bethany Seniors Care has returned to working from the office. Corporate Services is located in Calgary at Bethany’s Riverview campus. Duties and Responsibilities

  • Lead the development and execution of Bethany Care Foundation’s site based and Leaders In Care giving programs;
  • Create and coordinate community partnerships; donor acquisition and retention programs; third party fundraising initiatives; special events and small to mid-range grant proposals
  • Actively identify, cultivate, solicit and steward a personal portfolio of major and legacy gift prospects capable of significant gifts in the $10,000 - $100,000 plus range, including individuals, corporations, foundations, granting organizations/agencies and others
  • Contribute to the establishment and maintenance of high-quality information management to build and maintain institutional memory of Bethany’s donor relationships and records
  • Support volunteer efforts to raise funds for Bethany with a service leadership style that enables the success of Board members and community volunteers
  • Working closely with Donor Relations Team Lead, proactively foster mutually beneficial and lasting relationships between donors and Bethany Care Foundation/Bethany Care Society, ensuring fulfillment of donor recognition, reporting or other requirements within an assigned portfolio of donors, prospects and/or events
  • Collaborate with internal stakeholders (Bethany Care Foundation and Bethany Care Society), including Senior Management, Communications and Marketing, Finance and Materiel Management, as well as with Site Leaders, to ensure strategic alignment, effective use of resources, and optimal fundraising outcomes
QualificationsEducation & Professional Designation
  • Post-secondary degree in non-profit management, business, sales and marketing or related experience
Experience
  • 3 – 5 years of progressive fund development or transferable sales/client relations experience with an emphasis on face-to-face solicitation and client relationship management
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities
  • Strong working knowledge of fund development best practices with a substantial record of personal involvement in leading growth in fundraising or sales results.
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills with highly developed analytical and technical skills, including strong attention to detail.
  • Strong project management skills, with proven ability to lead self and others to results.
  • Demonstrated proficiency in one-on-one donor presentations and public speaking.
  • Strong interpersonal, relationship building and conflict resolution skills.
  • Experience in leading from behind to support community fundraising volunteers and Bethany’s site-based staff.
  • Demonstrated team-building skills in working with central and site-based staff, as well as with volunteers and community members, to achieve identified initiatives.
  • Working knowledge of Raiser’s Edge.
Requirements
  • Bethany Care Foundation and Society staff have returned to working from the office.
  • This position will be working in the Corporate Office which is located at Bethany Riverview.
  • Valid class 5 Drivers License is required, as travel to other sites, meetings and events is required
  • This position is required to attend meetings and events that may occur outside business hours, flexibility is required
