We’ve developed a simple, but powerful, solution that allows brokers, agents, managing general agencies, mutuals, and insurers to transform their businesses and achieve their vision of delivering the best insurance experience in the world.As the first ever Nude Solutions DevOps Specialist, you will work directly with the CTO to design, implement, and deploy a robust set of frameworks, tooling, and processes that help us keep our applications performing and as bug-free as possible.This will be a ‘startup’ role – our CTO has implemented a few skeletons, but a keen interest in researching and building solutions from scratch will be required.What you’ll do:

• Design, implement, and deploy logging and monitoring solutions for our Kubernetes based cloud infrastructure using industry leading tools (Prometheus, Loki, Grafana, etc)
• Design, implement, and deploy infrastructure automation in Azure using tools such as Terraform
• Develop and deploy support tooling for all Nude Solutions platforms
• Move our support process from a reactive approach to a proactive approach for all Nude Solutions platforms
• Work with the existing software development teams to mentor them in DevOps practices such as:
  • Service onboarding
  • Logging
  • Error handling
• Keep our CI/CD pipelines running smoothly and performing
• Assist our front-line support staff in responding to technical problems
  • We are expecting about 50% support and 50% ‘DevOps’ at the start with a quick reduction in support as we roll out better tooling
• Ultimately, you will work with our CTO in keeping our application stacks stable and maturing our overall infrastructure and devops practices

What you’ll need to succeed:

• 3+ years as a software developer in any stack (C# preferred)
• 3+ years managing Kubernetes based distributed applications in the cloud
• 2+ years managing cloud infastructure with IaC tooling such as Terraform
• A solid understanding of cloud networking principals (Azure preferred)
• Experience managing pipelines, deployments, artifacts, and other Devops related items using tools such as Azure Devops and Github Pipelines
• Experience in cloud cost optimization
• A self-starter attitude with the ability to take a concept, like ‘let’s automate our Azure infrastructure deployments’, from zero to production ready
• Comfortable with a ‘pager-duty’ on-call system in the future
• A strong understanding of cloud networking a huge asset
• Experience with HELM charts an asset
• Experience managing complex distributed systems in productionan asset
• Experience with true CI/CD and feature-flagging (all commits to master all the time) an asset

• Microsoft Azure, Azure Kubernetes Services, Terraform, Azure Devops Pipelines, Github (Actions)

Major ProjectsAs this is a new position and department for us, we thought we’d share some goals and projects on the horizon for this role:

• Sprint 1 (3 weeks)
  • Build and deploy a set of support tools for the monolith (50%)
  • Review and understand our Terraform IAC setup (25%)
  • Work with the CTO on a solution to have proper ‘dev’ Terraform branching (25%)
• Sprint 2
  • Continued work on the support tooling for the monolith (50%)
  • Creation of CI/CD pipelines for Terraform with cost analysis (50%)
• Sprint 3
  • Minor support work, as the tooling should be mostly done (20%)
  • Research and deployment of proof-of-concepts for logging and monitoring frameworks (40%)
  • Research and deployment of proof-of-concepts for better configuration management (40%)

Some other exciting projects this role will see:

• Just-In-Time environments allowing us to spawn instances of the CNude application stack for PR’s and integration tests
• Preparing our infrastructure for true continuous deployment
• Analyzing all our Azure resources with an eye to cutting costs/better scoping performance
• Making the development lifecycle easier and quicker through improved tooling
• Making the support lifecycle easier and quicker through automation
• Moving us from just ‘DevOps’ to ‘DevSecOps’ – hardening not only our cloud infrastructure, but our pipelines, code bases, and processes
• Lots of ongoing training and knowledge sharing – DevOps is a culture
