Job Description

Your Opportunity:The Communicable Disease Control (CDC) department is looking for Dietitians to assist in case and contact tracers for COVID-19 response on a casual basis. Although you will not be working as a typical Dietitian, you will gain cross-training and healthcare experience using your clinical expertise to support our teams and ever-changing service needs as the pandemic unfolds. Case investigation and outbreak management are invaluable components to managing COVID-19. You will be responsible for follow-up of confirmed, probable, and suspected cases, as well as their contacts. You will conduct investigations and report COVID-19 cases as legislated in the Public Health Act of Alberta and collaborate with Public Health and other healthcare providers in the management of COVID-19. You will be working in a virtual team environment and will need to have open availability. Evening and Weekend availability required. Day Shifts 8:15-16:15. Evening Shifts 12:45-21:00. No matter what your role, you’ll be making a meaningful difference!Description:As a Dietitian I, you may provide nutrition expertise to patients (clients, residents) in various AHS facilities and community settings to achieve nutrition and health outcomes. You may be responsible for nutrition assessment, development, implementation and evaluation of nutrition care plans. You may plan and provide public health nutrition services and education programs to promote healthy living and disease prevention for clients/groups in facilities or community settings. Nutrition education is provided to students and other healthcare professionals to support delivery of evidence based nutrition information.

Required Qualifications:Completion of Bachelor of Science degree with a major in Foods and Nutrition. Completion of an internship program or practicum training program accredited by the Dietitians of Canada. Active or eligible for registration with the College of Dietitians of Alberta (CDA).Additional Required Qualifications:Previous experience in outbreak management or case investigation/contact tracing. Effective organizational, planning and time management abilities. Demonstrates accountable, ethical practice and professionalism in working with clients, peers, and other health care providers, and the public in a culturally competent manner. Demonstrates high flexibility and adaptability to change with high standards of professionalism and diligence with the ability to work in a fast paced, at times stressful, and challenging environment. Ability to be self-directed and exercise strong independent clinical judgment. Effective negotiation and conflict resolution skills. Demonstrated competency with computer applications to complete timely clinical documentation. Strong skills in MS Office. Experience in triaging, assessing and advising clients who present with varied and often complex issues and/or problems.Preferred Qualifications:Cross-cultural competence and experience working with complex, vulnerable populations. Experience in Public Health or Communicable Disease. Experience working in a virtual team environment. Previous experience with Netcare, SCM and Meditech.Quick Apply
