The successful applicant will be required to work a variety of shifts including early mornings, days, evenings and weekends in a role that includes producing, reporting, shooting video, writing, editing, posting and promoting content for TV, online and radio. This position reports directly to the Managing Editor.Responsibilities:Produce local news content from video gathered in the field along with affiliate, national and international contentDisplay creativity in the use of production graphics and other visual elementsWrite news content for a variety of news programsResearch and develop original and enterprising story and guest ideasReport, shoot, write and edit stories for multiple daily newscasts and for globalnews.caMeet multiple daily deadlines to write, post, promote, update and curate local, regional and national content on globalnews.caReport live, on location and in studioWrite and file radio voicers and deliver live debriefs on talk radioParticipate in assignment meetingsBe a strong advocate, model and mentor for digital journalism and a digital-first workflowWork closely with staff based in Lethbridge and EdmontonParticipate in Global Calgary promotional and community initiativesPerform other duties as requiredAbout YouWhat we need from you:At least two years’ experience in broadcast and online journalismDegree/diploma in journalism from a recognized post-secondary institutionProven on-air presentation, including live remotes and unscripted materialProven shooting and editing experience is considered an assetAdept writer for broadcast, online and social media with great online and traditional story research skillsExperience as a news producer is considered an assetAn innovator with confidence in making editorial decisionsThis position requires someone who is comfortable working both independently and cooperatively in a team environment, with excellent communication and interpersonal skillsFamiliarity with Canadian Press Style and experience publishing in WordPress are assetsWilling and able to adapt to rapidly changing technology and workflowsValid driver's licenseOrganized and able to make quick and effective decisions under pressureWhy CorusCorus is a driving force in the media industry with a diverse portfolio of strong brands that entertain and inform audiences through great storytelling and compelling content, reaching millions of people around the world every day.We have a passionate drive to connect with the world around us: to express, to share, to be part of people's lives.
