Job Description

The Opportunity: :McElhanney Ltd. has a rewarding opportunity for an individual to join our team as a Draftsperson/Mapper in Calgary or Edmonton AB. In this role, you will be responsible for using computer-assisted design (CAD) to take preliminary data and produce, edit, and/or modify technically accurate drawings and plans that meet legal, client and branch specifications.The successful candidate will work within the Major Projects group, working with project managers, QAQC/Plan checkers and drafters on Oil & Gas, powerline and construction projects. This is an ideal opportunity for a talented individual to join our fast-paced team.The role is posted as for Calgary or Edmonton, but exceptions will be made for the ideal candidate.What You’ll Be Doing::

  • Complete assigned routine drafting duties using computer-assisted design (CAD). Create accurate drawings which follow project specific standards and guidelines
  • Follow established practices and techniques to produce, edit, and modify standard drawings with technical accuracy from preliminary data provided by the Project Manager or Sr. Draftsperson
  • Establish good rapport and build relationships with peers by responding to requests and communicating information in a timely manner
  • Comply with all company policies including safety policies and WCB regulations General survey drafting standards for both crown and freehold land within Alberta, BC and Saskatchewan will be an asset
  • Perform other related duties as required.
What You’ll Bring::
  • Diploma in Geomatics Engineering Technology or similar program, plus up to 3 years’ experience in a similar role
  • Ability to work with GIS software such as ESRI and ArcGIS products will be an asset
  • Ability to work independently and within a busy and high-performing team
  • Ability to multi-task, excellent organizational skills, communication skills, and attention to detail
