This role has no supervisory authority.General Description of the RoleThe Estimator is responsible for the generation of accurate and timely cost estimates for assigned custom glass projects. The Estimator will deliver organizedestimates, shop drawings, hardware schedules, and generating work orders and in-house fabrication sheets while managing project risk. The ideal candidate collaborates with the installation team to ensure there is full alignment with the job requirements as well as the contractors, designer, and home builder customers. Communication is key to successful project completion and a more than satisfied customer.Role AccountabilitiesThe Estimator will:

  • Compile detailed work orders, fabrication sheets, and specifications from customers order
  • Provide quotes with drawings, hardware selections, timelines and purchasing
  • Provide subject matter expertise in the showroom with customers to assist in identifying the right product for their needs and then generating quotes for the project
  • Ensure expectations of the project are in alignment with customer through to the installer.
  • Show installers new hardware and materials for each project they will be working on and collaborate with the installation team to ensure our installation project is successful.
  • Procure materials needed to install before project start date
  • Assess hazards on the project site which would then be communicated to the installation team and management
  • Provide support to both House of Mirrors and Urban Glassworks as required
Specific TasksThe Estimator will:
  • Meet with customers to review the details of the products and service they are requesting, ensure the details of the project are accurately recorded and ensure the customer understands what can and cannot be done – ensure expectations of the project are well aligned and understood
  • Provides estimates and shop drawings of the project and obtains approval from the customer before project initiation
  • Perform onsite measuring and/or making wood or coroplast templates for various glass and mirror products.
  • Obtain pricing from suppliers and ensure that it is incorporated into the estimate
  • Manages any change requests from the customer during the project completion
  • Drives positive relationships with customers and serves as the key contact
  • Assists in the training of new estimating staff as needed
  • Following company safety rules while recognizing OHS (Occupational Health & Safety) codes and regulations on projects.
Skills and ExperienceRequired Skills- you are:o Knowledgeable about the materials, tools, labour, etc., involved in completing projects and associated costso Someone who is capable of accurate mathematics involved in measurements, etc.o Solid listener to capture the exact requirements of the project as communicated by the customero Solid communicator to transfer the requirements of the project accurately to the installation teamo Excellent at building customer relations and instilling trust that the project will be done wello Someone who can resolve issues as they arise to ensure the successful completion of a project (profitable and to the customer’s satisfaction).Desirable Skills – you are:o Experienced working in the glass/mirror industry.o Able to draft shop drawings and articulate blueprints / requirementso Knowledgeableof glass fabricationo Safety TrainedRequired experience / qualifications—you have:o 5 years experience working in the installation industry (glass or otherwise)o Familiarity with building codes, ability to research to get the answero A minimum of 3 years leadership experienceo Knowledge of OHSo Able to use related software including MS Office and CADo Ability to develop relationships with customers instilling confidence in the quality of work HOM does.Desirable experience / qualifications—you may have:o Experience creating quotes or invoiceso Experience with sourcing and negotiating with supplierso Project Management experienceOthero This position requires frequent travelo This position requires a valid drivers licenceo This position requires the incumbent to work 100% onsiteo This position is required to provide coverage in other areas of House of Mirrors or Urban Glass works, as necessary.Job Types: Full-time, PermanentBenefits:
