Alcove Addiction Recovery Centre is residential facility for women who experience the co-occurring issues of addiction, mental health distress and a history of abuse. The purpose of the Family Support Worker (FSW) position is to increase parent confidence and competence through educational interactions, in-the-moment coaching, and role modeling within programming at our treatment program. The role also includes implementing and monitoring the individualized treatment plans developed for each Alcove client and provides all support required to promote healing, facilitate personal growth, and ultimately guide the clients as they successfully transition back into a productive and positive life within the community.Responsibilities:Provide individual, one on one counselling, and facilitate group programs to women and their children to assist them in dealing with abuse, addiction, and mental health distress and support their recoveryMonitor, evaluate, and record client progress with respect to treatment goals, and communicate with other members of treatment team as well regarding patient careProvide parenting support and guidance to individual parents/caregivers regarding parenting concerns and strategiesModel positive parenting and respectful behavior management techniquesWork collaboratively to provide parenting, child development, and community resource information and referrals to parents, including making appropriate referrals to other support services and programs as neededRefer patient, client, or family to community resources for housing or treatment to assist in recovery from mental or physical illness, following through to ensure service efficacyWork with their clients in transition to develop an aftercare plan and transition into the aftercare programEducation/Certification:University degree in Social Work, Psychology or other related Human Services field3-5 Years experience in related fieldExperience providing support to parents around child development, parenting skills and family functioningExperience facilitating Parent-Child group learning programs; Triple P certification considered an assetCPR/First Aid
