Job Description

4 for 4 provinces under your responsibility! As part of the Value and Access team, this role is critical in securing and maintaining funding for the portfolio products in Western Canada including oncology. You have a thorough understanding of the Health System including the cancer agencies as well as the health policy environment of for drug reimbursement in Western Canada. You have experience with tumor board groups, with the development of treatment algorithms, protocols, biomarker testing funding and you’re able to leverage this knowledge to provide input into reimbursement strategies.LOCATION: Manitoba - Saskatchewan - Alberta or British ColumbiaYour responsibilities:Your responsibilities include but not limited to:

  • Working cross-functionally with medical, sales, marketing, patient engagement, communications, as well as your colleagues in Value and Access, to co-create then implement reimbursement strategies and provide expertise on any access and health policy issues.
  • Oversee ongoing liaison with cancer agencies, drug plans and provincial governments on matters related to Novartis’ innovative medicines
  • Developing engagement plans, customizing public payer strategies and deploying with drug plans, cancer agencies, key government agencies plus related stakeholders and influencers in order deliver novartis’ innovative medicines to twice as many patients, twice as fast
  • Leading meetings and pricing negotiation with pCPA in order to secure Letters of Intent (LOIs) and Provincial Listing Agreements (PLA) in collaboration with Value and Access managers and directors to gain timely and optimal listings.
  • Collaboration with cross functional colleagues to co-create provincial partnerships and solutions to help strengthen the health care system and enhance care pathways, including the patient journey. Open new doors in the healthcare system to maximize the uptake of innovative medicines (ie private, public partnerships)
  • Ensure close alignment between insights from various external stakeholders (political, provincial, HTA, pan-Canadian Pharmaceutical Alliance, health care system) and launch plans with the New Product Planning team (3-5 years pre-NOC) including the adaptation of on-going launch plans.
  • Consistently develops self and takes initiative to learn and share with Value and Access and cross functional teams

  • A degree in life sciences, business or policy with a minimum 8 years’ experience in the pharmaceutical or related industry and a minimum of 4 years in policy/reimbursement.
  • Deep understanding of specialty medicines including oncology (both hematology and solid tumor) and cancer agencies in Western Canada (a must)
  • Superior communication skills with the ability to communicate to business and government through various mediums.
  • Advanced negotiation, capability to think strategically, develop and implement action plans as well as strategic account management skills
  • Accountability in role, entrepreneurial mindset and superior collaboration
