Job Description

DataDrill Communications Inc. is a dynamic company creating custom communication and electronic technology solutions for any geographic location servicing various Oil & Gas and Mining clients in all of their respective sectors (Drilling, Completions, Production and Construction). DataDrill takes pride in their ability to get the job done safely with high customer satisfaction for the last 20 years.DataDrill is currently seeking a hard-working and independent Field Technician.The Ideal Candidate will possess the following skills:1) Ability to work safely and efficient with no supervision2) Ability to work independently, prioritize workload and shift work activities as needed.3) General electronic and computer knowledge is an asset4) Enjoys working outdoors with various tools and equipment5) Ability to problem solve and troubleshoot6) Effective verbal, written and interpersonal communication skills7) Experience climbing rigs derrick/towers at heights of 200’8) Experience in cabling and cable termination (RG6 Coax, LMR Coax, CAT5) an asset9) Minimum Valid Class 5 driver’s license and clean abstract10) Comfortable in towing trailers11) Valid First Aid, H2S, Fall Arrest, CSO is requiredA DataDrill Field Technician will be responsible for the following tasks:

  • Rigging up various communication equipment (Vsat, Cellular Repeater, Wireless Intercom, Laptop packages, Two-way radio & Portable towers) in remote locations (within BC, AB & SK)
  • Installing Wifi infrastructure networks to support third party Electronic Drilling Recorder (EDR) solutions including rig mounted equipment such as sensors, PVT’s, electronic drilling rig instrumentation and hydraulic chokes
  • Installing Camera system to allow local & remote viewing of Drilling & Completions activities including rigs for connections, rig shakers allowing viewing of drilling fluid level.
  • Providing exceptional customer service to clients while on site, maintaining a professional appearance and conduct at all times
  • Driving in all weather conditions on oil and gas roads (dirt/ice/mud)
  • Working outdoors in all weather conditions (rain, snow, sun, wind)
  • Cleaning and repairing various communication equipment, replacing hardware components and accessories
  • Administrative work such as writing field tickets and filling out timesheets
You will also benefit from the support of our technical and logistical teams based at head office who will assist you with any issues that arise while out in the field.Please note that while this role is based in Calgary, AB, while on shift you will be working remotely in the field, which will require you to be outside of the Calgary area.
