Job Description

Hull Services has an organizational commitment to pursuing truth and reconciliation, decolonization and anti-oppression.The Position:We are looking for a full-time, entry-level Accounting Associate. Reporting to the Controller, the Accounting Associate performs a variety of accounting duties including, but not limited to, petty cash disbursements, bank deposits, and accounts payable. This is a vital role to the day-to-day operations of the Accounting Department.The schedule for this position is Monday to Friday, 37.5 hours per week.Duties and Responsibilities:Petty Cash Disbursements

  • Following approved Agency procedures, process and disburse petty cash requests; code and enter daily disbursements.
  • Reconcile and record returned receipts and unspent petty cash.
  • Reconcile petty cash balance on a daily basis.
  • Make copies of billable receipts.
  • Prepare and submit weekly petty cash fund order sheets to bank.
Accounts Payable
  • Following approved Agency procedures, issue purchase orders.
  • Code and reconcile inventory related invoices.
  • Review weekly cheque run edit list and match payment to vouchers.
  • Perform weekly cheque run as needed.
Other Duties
  • Order office and program supplies.
  • Assist accounting team in meeting deadlines.
  • Perform other clerical tasks as required.
  • Provide backup for other accounting roles during vacation/sick-time periods.
Qualifications and Skills:
  • High school diploma with some working experience in an accounting role.
  • Demonstrated record-keeping skills and a high level of accuracy and accountability.
  • Strong math, accounting and computer skills including intermediate knowledge of Excel; knowledge of Microsoft Dynamics is an asset.
  • Detail oriented, strong organizational and time management skills and ability to balance multiple priorities and work efficiently.
  • Excellent communication and problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to develop and maintain professional and effective relationships with staff and external parties.
  • Self-motivated and ability to take initiative and work independently.
  • Ability to work as part of a team, and willingness to perform a variety of support tasks.
  • Cross-cultural competence; knowledge of the Truth and Reconciliation Commission and the recommendations, goals and activities of the commission.
  • A Police Information Check, which includes a vulnerable sector search, is required (or is in process of being completed) prior to employment.
  • A Child Intervention Record Check is required upon commencement of employment.
