As such, we welcome talented individuals that have a variety of perspectives, backgrounds, and industry experience who will contribute to the success of our One Parkland team.Position Title: Financial AnalystTeam and Location: Finance – Calgary, ABPosition Summary:Reporting to the Manager, Finance, this position will work closely with various cross-functional teams to understand the business and finance systems of the ROC. The incumbent will be responsible for assisting with items including monthly and year-end reporting. The Financial Analyst will support Continuous Improvement (CI) projects as well as provide analysis of customer profitability and working capital. This position will work closely with the Finance Manager to help support the analysis of financial results for the Pacific ROC.Key Responsibilities:

  • Active role in month-end accounting process: prepare related journal entries and working papers, analyze results including gross margin and MG&A/OPEX for accruals processing.
  • Prepare month-end, quarterly and adhoc financial reporting and variance analysis.
  • Balance sheet reconciliations.
  • Support business with miscellaneous journal entries (rebates, throughput, etc).
  • Manage capital for the division including supporting the preparation of AFEs.
  • Support the annual budget and monthly forecasting processes.
  • Analyze and assist with CI improvements to existing processes, including properly documenting and ensuring that system or procedural controls are in place to prevent errors from occurring.
  • Investigate financial reporting anomalies for root cause including determining and implementing proper corrective action.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to provide support for various projects and initiatives including system and process improvements, business development activities and the integration of acquisitions.
  • Assist in preparing and maintaining working papers for C-Sox and external auditors.
  • Analyze pricing and evaluate margin enhancement initiatives.
  • Analyze location profitability and provide recommendations for improvement if required.
  • Prepare commercial agent commissions report.
  • Assist Ops and AP with GL coding.
  • Evaluate asset utilization compared to the original AFE created to purchase the equipment.
Qualifications and Skills:
  • Degree in Business, Finance or a related field.
  • Professional accounting designation preferred.
  • 3 to 5 years of experience in a relevant financial or business analyst role.
  • Strong understanding of financial systems, processes and internal controls.
  • Working knowledge of GAAP (IFRS).
  • Excellent computer and data analysis skills including experience with Excel, Hyperion and ERP software, ideally JDE.
  • Experience with business intelligence software and scorecards would be a strong asset.
  • Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills including the ability to think outside of the box and deal with ambiguity.
  • Strong interest in understanding the underlying business and providing support to the operations team in financial and operational decision-making (customer service attitude).
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills along with the ability to work well in cross-functional teams.
  • Self-starter and enthusiastic learner with demonstrated ability to multi-task and thrive in a high volume, fast-paced and evolving work environment.
  • Well-organized and detail-oriented with a strong commitment to ensuring deadlines are maintained and achieved.
