Job Description

Financial Analyst - Multiple Roles - (2211475)The Opportunity:As a Financial Analyst for the Corporate Accounting team, you will be responsible for providing financial accounting support for corporate orientated accounting, and financial reporting deliverables on a monthly, quarterly and annual basis. This role represents an excellent opportunity to develop key accounting skills including; stock based compensation, share capital accounting, accounting for foreign exchange, accounting for derivatives, investments, lease accounting, insurance, our international financing structure, budgeting, forecasting, reporting, and variance analysis, with support from a knowledgeable team. You will have exposure to legal entity financial statement preparation and financial reporting. You will interact with all of Canadian Natural’s accounting teams including CNR International, and gain a strong working knowledge and understanding of the company as a whole.Key Accountabilities:

  • Possess an affinity for solving problems and have a “can do” attitude
  • Work collaboratively within the team and with other accounting teams as determined by the area you will be responsible for
  • Prepare the necessary monthly/quarterly working papers and analysis as required and the associated journals
  • Develop a thorough understanding of the areas you are responsible for, understanding not only what we do but why and what the impact is on the rest of the company
  • Support the quarterly financial reporting process for the area you are working on
  • Participate in the preparation of annual legal entity financial statements

  • Job location: Calgary, Alberta
  • Shift schedule: Monday to Friday, 8 hour days
  • Multiple positions available, with varying years of experience required

Skills & Qualifications:
  • Public accounting and/or Oil and Gas industry experience preferable
  • Bachelor’s Degree in Finance or Accounting
  • Chartered Professional Accounting (CPA) designation, or in progress
  • Strong Microsoft Office skills, in particular Excel and Word.
  • Strong interpersonal, verbal, and written communication skills
  • Oracle E1 software and Data Analysis Studio [DAS] knowledge considered an asset
