Job Description

HDD DRILLING FOREMAN / FOREWOMANWe are looking for competent and experienced HDD Drilling Foreman / Forewoman to work on telecom projects in the Calgary area. Our focus is on safety and flawless service - we want to hire people have the same priorities.We offer competitive wages, paid overtime, health & dental benefits, bonus and a familial work environment with great crews as well as other compensation incentives!RESPONSIBILITIESTo provide some idea of the tasks you may be performing, a list of responsibilities may include but are not limited to:

  • Read and understand drawings, determine and review ground disturbance plans and bore paths with crews as per project specifications;
  • Executing field projects according to instructions provided by the client, project manager and the field supervisor;
  • Promote, lead and execute a Safety-First culture for all workers in compliance with the company’s Health and Safety Program and OH&S legislation;
  • Ensure completion of all site documentation and engagement in safe work plan development, hazard assessments, FLHAs and inspections;
  • Provide guidance to team members by leading safety meetings and inspections;
  • Track and report project, quality control, personnel / resource requirements and HSE to the Project Manager;
  • Manage site specific orientations and worker competencies;
  • Accountable for corrective actions related to HSE and Quality management;
  • Drive quality, efficiency and productivity of work crews;
  • Delegate work scopes and monitor the work performance, working with the crews to overcome challenges;
  • Follow project plans and budget in collaboration with the superintendent and Project Manager to ensure production goals are met;
  • Translate drawings, specifications and work requirements into a work schedule, prioritization of the work, effectively redirecting crews and equipment to assigned tasks and minimize downtime on site;
  • Record and report of violations or disciplinary actions;
  • Responsible for time tracking and approving field time daily;
  • Submission of requisitions for materials, equipment and personnel needs;
  • Review to ensure accuracy of job codes with the Project Manager;
  • Responsible for ensuring permits are valid and completing drilling specific documentation;
  • Other drilling scope tasks as needed.
REQUIREMENTSRequirements and qualifications for this position are a combination of skills and attitude:
  • 3+ years HDD drilling experience;
  • Minimum 3 years of experience in a supervisory position in the construction industry;
  • Familiar with project specific safety and management thereof on site;
  • Ability to read and interpret construction drawings, specifications and locates;
  • Knowledge of Alberta OH&S legislation;
  • Excellent time management and organizational skills;
  • Exceptional ability to multitask in a dynamic and fast-paced environment;
  • Strong interpersonal, leadership and communication skills;
  • Proven ability to mentor and train direct reports;
  • Proficient computer skills in MS Office (Outlook, Excel, Word, PowerPoint, etc.);
  • Safety conscious;
  • High level of expectation from crews when maintaining equipment;
  • Good judgement and problem-solving capacity;
  • Ability to think and react to changing conditions quickly;
  • Assertive and able to provide valuable constructive feedback to direct reports;
  • A valid Class 5 driver’s license with clean abstract (required);
SAFETY CERTIFICATES REQUIRED
  • Leadership for Safety Excellence (LSE) (required)
  • Ground Disturbance Level 2 / Supervisory training (required)
  • Standard First Aid (required)
  • CSTS 2020 training (required)
