Job Description

COMMUNITY ANIMATOR – HEALTHY RELATIONSHIPS (PERMANENT – 1.0 FTE)As the Community Animator, you will be part of a small but mighty team of creative out-of-the-box thinkers. Yourcollaborative and empowering approach will support community members to champion healthy relationships in theirneighborhoods.You will support, develop and implement prevention strategies while dealing with the complex issues that arise fromprevention work. As the successful candidate for this role, you will provide innovative approaches and best practices inthe support of community led activities that encourage healthy relationships and prevention of domestic violence.WHAT MOVES YOU

  • Build effective and equitable partnerships with
community stakeholders.
  • Engage community stakeholders to enhance
awareness of family violence prevention andhealthy relationships in their communities.
  • Empower community members to take action in
their neighborhoods.
  • Work collaboratively with community members
to develop solutions at the neighborhood level.
  • Support community members in implementing
these solutions through skill development,leadership development, and partnershipopportunities.
  • Create action plans to support and develop
community capacity.
  • Keep up to date on evidence-based practice
related to program (i.e. community development,family violence prevention etc.).
  • Promote the YW and associated
programs/services to all stakeholders.
  • Maintain records in accordance to program
policies and support monitoring and reportingobligations.
  • This is a full-time position, working 37.5 hours
per week. Weekend and evening work isrequired to allow for fulsome engagement withcommunity members.
  • BSW, with registration with Alberta college of
Social workers.
  • 3 -5 years of related experience. Concentration
in community development or leadership practicepreferred.
  • Strong command of empowerment theory,
community development, and family violenceprevention practice.
  • Proven track record of building partnerships and
successfully overseeing community initiatives.
  • Proven record of working with diverse
populations, multicultural and IndigenousPeoples.
  • Strong computer literacy including MS Office suite
and able to learn new software.
  • Must be able to read, write, and deliver services
in English. Multilingualism is an asset.
  • Accomplish activities with an equity, diversity and
