Job Description

We currently have a full-time contract Housekeeper opportunity at our Beaverdam community located at 2012-66 Ave SE Calgary.Find meaningful work with seniors.Enjoy working on a high-performance team while making a difference in the lives of independent seniors.Choose to work at one of our many communities across Calgary.Benefit from flexible hours, healthcare coverage and a pension plan.Reporting to the Community Manager, the Housekeeper is responsible for the overall cleanliness and safety of the community during their shift.Key responsibilities include:

  • Ensures the community is cleaned to Silveras standard
  • Responsible for the daily cleaning of resident units including bed-making, linen and towel changing
  • Assists with serving, clean-up, dishwashing and resetting of dining room tables before starting housekeeping duties.
  • Responsible for the cleanliness of all common areas and flooring
  • Responsible for annual cleaning of all resident units and common areas
  • Responsible to respond to resident incontinence and other bodily fluids and follow proper cleaning procedures
  • Responsible for the overall security and safety of the community and residents during the assigned shift
  • Reports any emergency situations which may arise and completes all paperwork and follows procedures as required during the assigned shift
  • Attends various committees and training sessions as requested by Silvera
  • Responsible for inventory control and ordering of chemical and paper products; receiving and restocking inventory on a regular basis
  • Responsible for sorting and completing of laundry.
  • Responsible to assist with and attend special community events
  • Participates in and promotes Silveras Health and Safety program
  • Reports any safety issues to the Community Manager and is knowledgeable in emergency procedures and can act accordingly
  • Responsible to see that equipment is kept in good working order
  • Actively participates in the Supportive Living Accommodations Standards
  • Other duties as assigned
Desired qualifications:
  • Previous housekeeping/room attending experience is essential
  • A minimum one (1) years experience in a service industry
  • Must be able to work independently, or as a team member, and be able to meet deadlines
  • Must possess a high standard of hygiene and personal appearance
  • Must have a flexible, willing and positive attitude
  • Must have good organizational skills
  • Must have good communication skills – both oral and written
  • Must have the ability to relate well with seniors
  • WHMIS and First Aid and Food Handling course can be an asset for the position
  • Must have excellent problem solving abilities
  • Must be willing to attend courses as requested by Silvera
  • Must possess decision making qualities
  • Basic computer skills.
