This positions will be based at our new facility, Gilchrist Commons located at 503 Pine Stream N.E. Benefit from flexible hours, shift differentials, career advancement.Reporting to the Community Manager, the Housekeeping Supervisor is responsible for the overall cleanliness and safety of the community and for the direct supervision, leadership and communication with all housekeeping staff and the Community Night Attendants in the large community environment.Shift schedule is Monday through to Thursday, and rotational Saturday and Sunday 7:00am - 3:30pmKey responsibilities include:
  • Responsible for overseeing and ensuring that the community is cleaned to the standard established by Silvera
  • Responsible for the supervision and training of all housekeeping staff and the Community Night Attendants
  • Assigns work tasks among the staff members
  • Responsible to liaise with other shifts with housekeeping responsibilities to ensure smooth communication and task completion
  • Resolves any housekeeping issues with residents and/or staff
  • Assists in daily housekeeping responsibilities if the department is short-staffed
  • Orders, receives and restocks chemical and linen inventory on a regular basis and maintain products, supplies and costs within budget
  • Oversees monthly connects and annual performance reviews and performance management of staff including disciplinary action
  • Participates in recruitment of new staff
  • Responsible for schedule and payroll
  • Ensures hallways and common areas are kept clean, on a daily basis
  • Conducts monthly inspections of resident suites and common areas
  • Oversees the scheduling and completion of annual cleaning of resident units and common areas
  • Ensures that equipment is kept in good working order
  • Reports any safety issues to the Community Assistant Manager or Community Manager
  • Handles emergency procedures accordingly and as required
  • Ensures that vacated units are cleaned and ready for rental on date specified
  • Oversees and responds to resident incontinence and follow proper cleaning procedures in the event of an outbreak
  • Participates actively on various Silvera Committees as requested
  • Participates in and promotes the Health and Safety program
  • Participates in Supported Living Accommodation Standards as required
  • Assists with, and attends special events as required
  • Provides mentorship and support to smaller communities as requested
  • Other duties as assigned
Desired qualifications:
  • Previous housekeeping experience is essential. Minimum one (1) years experience in the service industry and at least one (1) year experience in leading teams
  • Demonstrated leadership qualities and proven ability to hire, train and motivate others
  • Must be able to work independently, or as a team member, and demonstrate strong organizational skills to be able to meet deadlines
  • Flexible, willing and positive attitude along with excellent problem-solving abilities
  • Strong customer service focus and the ability to relate well with seniors
  • Possess a high standard of hygiene and personal appearance
  • Must be willing to attend courses as requested by Silvera
  • WHMIS training is required
Working Conditions:
  • Must be able to lift objects up to 25 lbs.
  • Will be exposed to:
  • o Corrosive and non-corrosive chemicals
  • o Frequent bending and stretching
  • o Pulling and pushing, lifting furniture
  • Required to operate heavy cleaning equipment
  • Required to do repetitive housekeeping tasks
