Your Opportunity:Alberta Health Services is seeking an experienced Payroll and Time and Labour (T&L) professional for the role of HR Technician. The HR Technician is a functional expert that contributes to the successful pay processing for over 100,000 employees. The HR Technician maintains knowledge of Alberta Health Services, Alberta Precision Labs and Covenant Health collective agreements, NUEE Terms and Conditions, and employment legislation. This role provides support to Time & Labour (75%), Payroll (25%) and other teams within Shared Services (HRSS) as well as other partners. In Payroll and Time & Labour’s fast paced and challenging environment, the successful incumbent will have the following responsibilities. Processing grievance and severance payments requested by Management, HR & Legal. Handles all garnishments on a daily basis to be compliant with legislation. Completing year-end activities for all companies. Providing Payroll statistics and transaction rates for HRSS metrics reporting. Troubleshoots, analyzes, and resolves Payroll-related problems. Transact daily, weekly and bi-weekly pay processes including interfacing data files into PeopleSoft from clients on Telestaff and Workforce ESP systems. Monitor systems processes and rules to ensure they operate efficiently. Receive, manage and investigate complex issues, questions or concerns from other internal or external teams. Provide support, guidance and direction to the T&L and Payroll teams, and support for system processes. Escalate any issues or required changes to established T&L and Payroll policies, system rules or processes to the Team Lead. Support and conduct testing for Payroll and T&L e-People system changes and improvements. Collaborate and establish relationships with business partners. Be responsible for internal audit of unapproved reported time and ensure audit compliance for time approval is met.Description:As an HR Technician, you will require specialized skills and knowledge to support complex procedures, practices and initiatives within a department or program.
