The Calgary Drop-In Centre (the DI) is more than emergency shelter. We provide emergency shelter, health services and housing programs to people who need support. Our programs and services connect people to permanent housing that meets their individual needs. Rooted in community and fueled by kindness, the DI proudly serves as part of the Homeless-Serving System of Care.The DI has implemented a COVID-19 Immunization Policy. You must be able to provide proof of full vaccination in order to be an employee of the DI. Full vaccination means you will need to have received two doses of Moderna, Pfizer, or AstraZeneca, or one dose of Janssen and have cleared the 14-day waiting period since your last vaccine. Some people have received two different vaccines, such as AstraZeneca and Moderna, and these people are also considered fully vaccinated.This is a one year contract position with a possibility of extensionPosition SummaryReporting to the Manager, Marketing and Communications, and working closely with both the Communications department and other departments as needed, the Internal Communications Specialist will be responsible for upgrading the existing intranet, coordinating all communication announcements, all- staff newsletters, intranet stories, and other types of memos for all staff. With specific focus on refreshing and refining the agency’s internal communications techniques, this role is highly collaborative and requires input from departments across the agency. The Internal Communications Specialist will also lead alongside the Manager, Marketing and Communications and others as needed to create and rollout a new Internal Communications Framework, and identify the gaps created by COVID-19 and work towards stronger unity within the DI.
