Job Description

L.H. Gray & Son Limited, better known as Gray Ridge Eggs in Ontario, began in 1934 in Ridgetown, Ontario by Lyle and Ina Gray. Today, their son, Bill Gray carries on the family tradition. Gray & Son Ltd. became a founding member of National Egg Inc., a Canadian marketing cooperative that brings local specialty eggs to market across Canada under the GoldEgg/JauneDoré brand. Sparks Eggs, a major player on the Alberta egg grading scene, was welcomed into the L.H. Gray & Son Ltd. family, further strengthening Bill Grays vision in Western Canada. L.H. We hope youll join our amazing team in keeping our country fed safely!POSITION OVERVIEWInventory Control/Finished Goods is responsible for working closely with the Production Team to ensure all graded and palletized eggs are entered into NAV (electronic inventory tracking) and tagged accordingly. This position requires a high level of attention to detail, self-motivation, and the incumbent must be computer savvy.CORE COMPETENCIES

RESPONSIBILITIES
  • Participation in month end inventory in the plant is expected
  • Using Nav, tag/label all graded, palletized eggs throughout the shift ensuring inventory accuracy
  • Responsible for the maintenance of accurate inventory SKUs
  • Assist in the training and development of new employees
  • Send all ASN (Advanced Shipping Notice) throughout the shift. The frequency of checking and sending should be shortly after each load or few loads is physically complete. This task must be completed in a timely manner to avoid penalties
  • Daily spot checks of different sectors of the finished product cooler (one section of the cooler Monday to Friday) for physical counts and ensure that they are accurately expressed by the inventory in NAV
  • Inform Plant Manager and Supervisors of any issues stemming from employees’ activities that cause inventory errors, and seek to help resolve the issues
  • Any equipment malfunctions or concerns are to be reported promptly to the Plant Manager and the IT Department (i.e. broken hand scanners, printers, connection issues, etc.)
  • Notify the Plant Manager and record any material issues that do not meet company quality standards
  • Ensure code dates are rotated in the Finished Product Cooler (FIFO) and inform Supervisors of deviations that need correction
  • React promptly to problems with NAV software that employees need help resolving
  • Inspect hand scanners, battery banks, computers and printers weekly for functionality, damage, etc. to ensure no work interruptions due to faulty/missing equipment
  • Assisting co-workers where and when needed
  • All other duties assigned by the Production Supervisor
EDUCATION, EXPERIENCE AND SKILLS
  • Prior production experience working successfully in an egg grading facility preferred
  • Experience operating machinery in a production setting preferred
  • High degree of competence with computer software and handheld scanners
  • Knowledgeable of different inventory SKUs and the layout of the coolers and warehouse
  • Ability to work well with others as part of a team, demonstrating politeness, respect, and courtesy in communication and daily interactions
  • Strong communication skills are essential. Inventory Control must be able to provide team members with clear concise information about Inventory SKUs
  • Must be able to react quickly to problems as they arise to minimize production and shipping down time
  • Daily problem-solving ranges from resolving software issues, computer and printer hardware issues, physical inventory SKU issues, etc.
  • Strong individual judgement is essential to schedule work tasks and set priorities
  • This position is encouraged to independently bring forth innovative ideas and suggestions to improve inventory management and maintenance and/or the work environment

  • Work in compliance with divisional and legislative health, safety and environmental procedures
  • Refrain from removing or altering safety devices or guarding unless hazardous energies are controlled through lockout-tagout methods
  • Report any unsafe conditions or unsafe acts
  • Report defect in any equipment or protective device
  • Ensure that the required protective equipment is used for the assigned tasks
  • Participate in all required health, safety and environmental training
  • Report any accidents/incidents to supervisor
  • Assist in investigating accidents/incidents
  • Refrain from engaging in any prank, contest, feat of strength, unnecessary running or rough and boisterous conduct
