  • Ensure high levels of performance, availability, and security of Matrix Solutions technology systems.
  • Research and implement new technologies to meet evolving business needs.
  • Manage the systems throughout their lifecycle, from the initial concept and design, through the project build and deployment, up until the final decommissioning of the system.
  • Be a subject matter expert for these systems, you are responsible for ensuring they are consistent with company goals, industry best practices, and regulatory requirements.
  • Have autonomy and the opportunity to interact and work with a community of technical experts from other Matrix regions.

As an IT Infrastructure Analyst, you will join our Calgary, Alberta or Guelph, Ontario office as part of our IT Operations team. The successful applicant will be involved in a broad range of projects from design to implementation with responsibilities as follows:
  • Provide support, migrations, optimizations, and deployments for a wide range of Microsoft Azure/Office365, SQL, Microsoft 365 technologies, Azure Virtual Machines (VM), RDS server setup, management, and maintenance.
  • Recommend, implement, and maintain secure environments running in Azure using industry-accepted standards (MFA, Azure Firewall, Intune, etc.).
  • Perform analysis, diagnosis, and resolution of complex system problems, and recommend and implement corrective solutions, including offsite repair as needed.
  • Develop and maintain an understanding of the business processes that rely on the supported technology systems and their associated service level agreements.
  • Support both on-site and off-site design, installation, configuration, testing, maintenance, monitoring, reporting, and troubleshooting for technology systems and their related technologies in order to deliver the required service levels.
  • Ensure the resolution of all tickets are captured by taking ownership of the request and interfacing with other team members, departments, and third parties, as needed, to see the ticket through to completion.
  • Continue to improve the knowledge base.
  • Accountable for the integrity and availability of the business data stored in IS Systems.
  • Assist with identifying and improving process deficiencies and departmental improvements.
  • Represent the team at various cross functional meetings and/or projects; promote existing and new programs and/or policies.
  • May be required to travel to Matrix Solutions remote offices and occasional evening and weekend work to meet deadlines or perform special projects.
  • Perform other operational duties as required.
What We Are Looking For
  • Bachelor’s degree or technical diploma from an accredited institution in Computer Science, Information Technology (IT) or related field.
  • 5+ years of IT systems administration experience.
  • In-depth hands-on experience with Microsoft Enterprise solutions including on-premise and cloud hosted server environments, and Office 365 administration.
  • Proficient in IT infrastructure including storage, server, networking, virtualization, Azure cloud and cyber security.
  • Support and maintain MS Teams, Office 365, Azure AD and Microsoft Exchange Online.
  • Working knowledge of wired and wireless networking/SAN solutions, local and remote backup technologies and VOIP services.
  • Knowledge of infrastructure automation and best practices with PowerShell and Bash is an asset.
  • Familiarity with other cloud solutions such as AWS is an asset.
  • Experience supporting business applications such as ERP and HRIS systems.
  • Ability to work well in a team atmosphere.
  • Good understanding of ITIL best practices.
  • Excellent communication skills (verbal and written).
