Job Description

The net result is that we tackle every project, no matter the size, with the skills and confidence necessary to ensure 100% customer satisfaction.We are currently seeking a Junior Field Technician to join our dynamic team.This is an entry level position into the telecom construction industry. Mentorship and training will be provided with the opportunity to advance to a piece-rate, Field Technician positionJob Duties:

  • Read and interpret maps (telecom design prints, google maps, google earth)
  • Locate and proof underground telecom conduits
  • Pump manholes
  • Drive around the city to locate and identify required telecom infrastructure such as conduits, peds, manholes, cable, aerial plant components, and building access points
  • Assist Cable Placers in the field which may include flaking cable, pulling cable and mule tape, rod and roping, tagging and foaming, ladder work, loading and offloading cable reel, and driving heavy machinery to work site
  • Assist Fibre Optic Splicers in the field which may include locating and setting up fibre splice locations and power meter operation
  • Assist with shipping and receiving telecom equipment and supplies
  • Operate forklift to assist with loading and offloading cable reels
  • Assist mechanic with vehicle repairs and preventative maintenance
The right candidate for this opportunity will possess the following attributes:
  • Excellent critical thinking and problem solving skills
  • Ability to travel is a must
  • Proven experience working in a safe manner
  • Self-Starter and Motivated
  • Can work in many different environments – indoor, outdoor, aerial, underground, confined spaces
Qualifications and Skills
  • Class 5 License and have access to own Transportation
  • Ability to lift up to 50lbs
  • Experience operating heavy machinery
  • Forklift experience is an asset
  • Current Confined Space Entry, First Aid, and/or Fall Protection Certification is an asset
