Company descriptionCalgary Nature Kindergarten is an approved Kindergarten program under Alberta Education. It is operated by the Childrens Commons Ecological Society. Children spend the majority of their day exploring an cleansing in nature.Job descriptionDo you enjoy and know the value of being outdoors (in all weathers)Are you passionate about child developmentIs project work and working in a living classroom an exciting environment that you wish to be inPosition:Nature Kindergarten Classroom Assistant - 2 positions (Deep South off Hwy 22x and Rosemont Community in NW Calgary)We are looking for someone who:

  • experience working in a Kindergarten or early years program and classroom setting;
  • experience and/or knowledge of working in an emergent curriculum environment;
  • is flexible and looks forward to responding to planning to changes in programming as the day requires - based on weather or the interests of the children;
  • enjoys collaboration and working in a team planning environment;
  • must have or be willing to take first aid certification; must provide current police and vulnerable sector check;
This position will:
  • primarily work directly with children in the age group of 3-6 years old - most of the time outdoors except in extreme weather;
  • involve daily and weekly team plan and share responsibility for implementation of those plans;
  • offer 2-3 days per week; up to 8 hours per day during the school year;
  • paid training and ongoing professional development in areas related to Forest School and the Reggio Emilia philosophies and working in a democratic environment;
