Kinship care allows children in government care to remain with kin who are committed to them and allows them to remain connected to their family, culture and community. Kinnections is a partnership program between Hull Services, and McMan Youth, Family and Community Services Association, and as such works collaboratively to deliver services in Calgary and Area.The Position:We are looking for two temporary, full-time Kinship Facilitators for a 22 month contract position, with the possibility of extension.This role requires a flexible work schedule as it includes some evening work and occasional weekend work. The Kinnections team also shares in an after-hours on-call rotation.The Kinship Facilitator will be responsible for conducting assessments and providing support for Kinship caregivers and their families. The Facilitator will report to the Program Coordinator and will work as a member of the Program, Agency and larger kinship community of practice.Duties and Responsibilities:

• Conduct regular in-home visits with kinship caregivers and children.
• Provide caregiver support with resourcing and wellness promotion.
• Build caregiver capacity using trauma-informed and developmentally sensitive approaches.
• Represent the children’s needs and interests with individuals across a variety of settings, e.g., school.
• Act as a liaison between Children’s Services, the kinship family and members of the child’s team.
• Attend case conferences and meetings.
• Complete assessments, write reports, maintain files, and manage other administrative duties.
• Share in the facilitation of caregiver group training and occasional group childcare responsibilities.
• Offer flexibility in schedule in order to provide on call support and work some evenings and weekends.

Qualifications and Skills:

• A degree in Social Sciences or Human Services; a diploma in a related field may also be considered with relevant family work experience.
• Sound clinical judgment working with children and families from a variety of backgrounds including families with Indigenous backgrounds.
• Skilled in the areas of crisis management, conflict resolution, advocacy and team collaboration.
• Some experience with adult learning is an asset.
• Strong knowledge of Indigenous culture(s) and Indigenous community and resources is preferred.
• Cross cultural competence; knowledge of the Truth and Reconciliation Commission and the Commission’s work.
• Excellent interpersonal qualities including flexibility, effective communication and relationship building skills.
• Demonstrated interest, commitment, consistency, and a high level of self-awareness, personal maturity and responsibility.
• Demonstrated ability to work autonomously and with personal accountability.
• Excellent written, administrative and organizational skills.
• A Police Information Check, which includes a vulnerable sector search, is required (or is in process of being completed) prior to employment.
• A Child Intervention Record Check is required upon commencement of employment.
• Reliable transportation, adequate vehicle insurance, valid driver’s license and at least 2 years of driving experience with a class 5/GDL class 5 license.
• Completion of coursework and/or certification in Brain Development or Trauma Informed Care is an asset.
