This includes knowledge lawyers, library and information experts, full stack developers and legal technology specialists.The Knowledge Lawyer position reports into the Director of Knowledge with a dotted line to the Library Services.The RoleThe Knowledge Lawyer, Current Awareness, will develop a national curated current awareness program and legislative updating service to ensure that our lawyers and key clients are kept apprised of key developments in the law that impact their practice and business.As part of the role, the Knowledge Lawyer will analyze and summarize applicable developments in the law from a variety of sources including aggregated media, email alerts and web-based and online resources to create curated internal and external alerts to highlight critical areas of importance to key clients, firm leadership and practice areas.The successful candidate has excellent research, analytical and drafting skills, is an engaging communicator, is passionate about the law and is self-motivated.The position offers an agile, flexible working environment. The successful candidate could choose to work from home, out of any of our Canadian offices or under a hybrid model.SkillsExcellent web-searching and technical searching skills and advanced MS office skillsIn-depth familiarity with various legal research resources and tools such as WestlawNext and Lexis/QLHighly detailed knowledge of government structures and the legislative process in Canada, including publications in relation to legislative updates such as Bills, Acts, Regulations, Guidelines, and other tools related to the legislative process at both the Federal and Provincial/Territorial levelsAbility to, in collaboration with other members of the Knowledge team and practice group heads, ascertain current awareness requirements in various areas of the lawAbility and willingness to learn new tools, processes and technologiesKnowledge of intranets as a communication vehicle and experience using SharePoint for developing content would be an assetAbility to find and analyze legislative content, including updates to legislation for use in client products and for use by key internal stakeholdersAnalytical skills such as trend identification and identifying important legal and industry developmentsStrong research, editing and writing skills and ability to quickly summarize information in a clear and concise fashionStrong attention to detail and ability to curate and analyze content using highly honed judgement skillsAbility to produce bespoke current awareness reports for short term requests and maintain daily and monthly deadlinesCreative thinking, passion for the law and a keen interest in current affairs and awareness for legal and business development newsSelf-starter with an ability to work independently and collaboratively with other members of the Knowledge team, practice group heads and other lawyers in various areas of the law and business services team members across CanadaEducation and ExperienceDual JD/MLIS or Law Degree with at least 5 to 7 years of research and practice experienceBilingualism/French language skills an assetNorton Rose FulbrightNorton Rose Fulbright is a leading international legal practice.
