Job Description

POSITION: Full-time employment (37.5 hours per week)TERM: Contract to March 2025, with the possibility of extensionInclusive employers outpace their competitors by harnessing the unique skills, perspectives, and potential of a diverse workforce. Ready, Willing & Able (RWA) is a national employment initiative that supports employers to hire inclusively. Since 2014, RWA has supported businesses to hire more than 3,500 employees who are on the autism spectrum or have an intellectual disability. RWA’s Alberta delivery partner, Society for Treatment of Autism (STA) is seeking a Labour Market Facilitator to grow the RWA program in the Calgary and Edmonton areas. Although position will be based out of Calgary, travel to Edmonton will be required on at least a monthly basis.Society for Treatment of Autism (STA) (www.sta-ab.com) is an Alberta-based registered charitable organization providing comprehensive treatment and educational services for people with autism and related disorders. At STA we view our employees as our strength and are committed to professional growth, competitive compensation, a comprehensive benefits plan and a supportive team environment.About the RoleDo you have experience building relationships with employers Do you have a talent for making connections and creating linkages across sectors The successful candidate will be responsible for developing connections and partnerships with employers of all kinds, employment agencies, and a ready, willing, and able workforce of job seekers with autism and/or an intellectual disability.This position reports to STA’s Executive Director.Key responsibilities

  • Conduct business outreach & engagement across various sectors and industries to promote the value of inclusive hiring.
  • Engage employers to diversify their hiring practices and expand recruitment and hiring of people on the autism spectrum or with an intellectual disability.
  • Link hiring demand to qualified talent pool & build community capacity to support job seekers and employees with an intellectual disability or autism.
  • Develop partnerships with community supported employment agencies and developmental service organizations to identify job seekers to fill open roles.
  • Deliver presentations and information tools for business groups to promote the employment of people with an intellectual disability or who are on the autism spectrum.
  • Collect and document stories of successful hires.
Additional Responsibilities
  • Ensure adequate and ongoing information dissemination, development of tools and resources, and development and delivery of public awareness efforts.
  • Participate in national RWA communication and marketing campaign activities, including use of social media, LinkedIn, etc.
  • Attend monthly national RWA team conference calls.
  • Liaise and maintain working relationship with RWA national team and provincial partners.
  • Meet all reporting and documentation requirements of the national RWA program, including but not limited to completion of quarterly reporting and maintenance of client management data base.
  • Other duties as required and/or assigned.
Qualifications, Skills and Experience
  • Commitment to full inclusion for people with an intellectual disability and autism, including the right to employment and economic participation in the community.
  • Strong interpersonal skills, with talent to communicate effectively with people of all walks of life and experiences
  • Strong knowledge of local labour market issues and trends.
  • Experience in employment equity, diversity, and inclusion is an asset.
  • Knowledge of issues and barriers faced by people with intellectual disability and autism in accessing the labour market is a plus.
  • Excellent presentation, facilitation, and public speaking skills.
  • Experience working in a community development framework.
  • Proficiency in MS Office Applications and client relationship management software.
  • Aptitude for learning new online systems and tools.
  • A valid driver’s license and access to a reliable vehicle.
  • Post-secondary education in a related field (e.g. Human Resources, Business, Communications, Marketing, Social Services, Disability Studies, Education) or equivalent experience.
Working Conditions
  • It is anticipated that the successful candidate will work from home but will have access to working/meeting space at STA when required.
  • Flexibility is required based on deadlines and requirements. Occasional evening and weekend work may be required.
