Job Description

Date: Oct 21, 2022Location: Calgary, Alberta, CanadaCompany: Trans MountainTrans Mountain operates Canada’s only pipeline system transporting oil products to the West Coast. We deliver approximately 300,000 barrels of petroleum products each day through 1,150 kilometres of pipeline in Alberta and British Columbia, and 111 kilometres of pipeline in Washington state.As the Manager, Internal Communications you will lead our internal communications team and oversee our internal communication strategies, channels and methods that support our business priorities. Reporting to the Director, Corporate Communications, this position is based in Calgary, Alberta. The candidate will be a creative, collaborative, detail-oriented leader with a passion for storytelling. The role would suit someone who can get up to speed quickly, establish positive working relationships and inspire others, as well as plan and deliver internal communications strategies on a variety of topics with different degrees of complexity.Responsibilities

  • Provide consultative communication services to our leadership and functional teams to assist in formulating their specific communications messages and objectives
  • Oversee the development of proactive and strategic communication initiatives, programs, and events
  • Build strong relationships with internal clients/stakeholders
  • Manage overall channel infrastructure to ensure effective targeting of messages.
  • Write high quality creative communication material/content
  • Partner with internal stakeholders to manage change management communications
  • Measure and report on communication outcomes; creating metrics to measure communication effectiveness
  • Provide thought leadership and stay abreast of relevant trends, technology and internal communication best practices
  • Support crisis communication response; on call rotation
Qualifications and experience
  • Bachelor’s degree in Journalism, Communications, or related field.
  • 10+ years of communications experience, ideally gained within a corporate environment
  • Proven management experience
  • Experience leading change communications and advising others on how to do this effectively.
  • Experience creating and delivering impactful communication plans and content for a range of online and offline internal communications channels.
  • A strong understanding of how to build and measure an effective internal communications channel mix.
  • Excellent writing, editing, proofreading, and information gathering experience to shape compelling content across multiple internal channels (digital and in-person)
  • Strong organizational and project management skills with experience in managing multiple, diverse projects and tight deadlines with autonomy, while maintaining timely, high-quality work across the team
  • Experience with O365, communications tools and channels. Must have a strong understanding of technology to solve communication challenges
  • Track record for getting things done, finding solutions to complex challenges, and turning ideas into measurable plans.
