Job Description

Your Opportunity:Reporting to the Director, the Manager provides direction, leadership, & organization over activities for a provincial team focused on his/her area of responsibility & is accountable for the performance & outcomes of the staff & the area of responsibility. Via an extensive knowledge of evidence-informed practice, an understanding of legislation & governance, experience with senior management priorities, & an understanding of stakeholder needs, this position delineates high level strategies & frameworks into planning & clinical initiatives (policy, programs) that meet operational needs at the local/zone level throughout the province. This is a complex position due to the nature, depth, and breadth of initiatives (policy, programs) which are provincial in scope, administered centrally, and delivered locally.Description:The Manager participates in the development, implementation, & evaluation of Provincial Addiction & Mental Health (PAMH) business plans & priorities. Plans & priorities are operationalized in consultation with the Director & through effective partnerships & collaboration within AHS, & among stakeholders at provincial & zone levels. The Manager ensures objectives translate to work plans with defined timelines & key deliverables that are comprehensive & transformational with on-going processes for operational sustainability. This position supports the advancement of an integrated, long-term service delivery perspective and promotes a provincial & addiction & mental health care system-wide approach to service delivery. The Manager builds & maintains strategic alliances & partnerships to develop & advance his/her area of responsibility that promote long-term change for a sustainable addiction & mental health system.

Required Qualifications:A minimum of a Baccalaureate degree (Master’s degree preferred) in Health, Public Health, Community Health Sciences, Health Administration, Business, Policy or Social Sciences. Registration with the appropriate regulatory college.Additional Required Qualifications:Extensive knowledge of clinical areas, groups and professions and the processes that support changing clinical practice. Facilitation and/or coordination experience in project planning, execution, reporting, monitoring and evaluation. Experience managing physical and human resources and related financial/statistical information. Significant experience in problem solving, concerns resolution, investigation, conflict resolution and negotiation. Team leadership skills, including demonstrated ability and comfort with managing employees, decision making responsibilities, coaching and teaching. Demonstrated ability to foster relationships and partnerships with internal and external stakeholders. Effective communicator with strong organizational skills, influencing skills, interpersonal skills, client focused orientation and commitment to providing quality services. Ability to develop and facilitate presentations to convey information or transfer knowledge. Experience in leading research, information interpretation, evaluation, and formal reports development. Demonstrated ability to facilitate change. Specialized depth and breadth of expertise of clinical initiative development and implementation including project management. Familiarity with provincial regulatory environment and with provincial health legislation.Preferred Qualifications:Certification in: Health systems leadership. Process improvement. Change management. Project management. Registration with the appropriate regulatory college. A minimum of five years experience in leadership/management in a complex health care setting or an organization of significant size, with experience in the fields of addiction and/or mental health.
