Job Description

  • Lead and develop a high-performing eCommerce team to drive online sales and KPIs. Support their career development through 1:1 training, mentoring and personal development plans.
  • Manages all online catalogue content operational processes across SportChek, Atmosphere, Marks and Lequipeur websites, including Master Data Management, publishing process, escalations and SEO.
  • Develop and execute best-in-class SEO content strategy within product titles and description/features. Work alongside Site Merchandisers to implement SEO key terms within products and establish a competitive product title formula that is scalable across all categories and implemented into the onboarding process.
  • Deliver foundational eCommerce experiences across all categories, focused on data and content management optimizations in partnership with Product Teams, Merchants and Site Merchandising. Lead the execution of MDM and PCM and working with Site Merchandising/Merchants to ensure filters and attributes are aligned with how Customer’s expect to shop within the respected categories.
  • Develop playbooks and benchmarking strategies for PDP content (images/copy) and share with cross-functional teams, Site Merchandising, Merchants and SLT.
  • Establish and mange the process of content migration to MDM/PCM for ODP. Report on progress as required and share updates monthly with SLT and President.
  • Using data-driven insights, coach cross-functional & Merchant teams on online content best practices and partner with them to identify areas of opportunity to optimize the online presence of the catalogue.
  • Analyze content and generate insights and initiatives to improve online experience (i.e. what categories require in-depth product copy, does average time on page equate higher conversions, where to implement lifestyle imagery). A/B test where required (i.e. robust list of features vs description paragraph). Present findings to U/X team for future ODP enhancements.
  • Alongside the Site Merchandisers, create a content strategy for Owned Brands to ensure elevated content for our brands that improve conversion rate and sales (i.e. lifestyle, multiple shots, SEO copy and enhanced A+ content below the fold).
  • Develop and execute go-to-market strategies for new verticals or brand launches across web properties in partnership with Site Merchandising and Digital Teams.
  • Partner with AVP eCommerce, Merchants and Planning teams to understand Merchandising needs and financial forecast plans and prioritize product content accordingly to meet those needs. Adjust with implementation of Product Lifecycle attributes.
  • Identify future opportunities and analyze competitive landscape for features and trends as they related to best practices to online content execution.
  • Alongside Digital Org, own the execution of True Fit, size assurance tool. Owner of the analytics and reporting of the data within the tool. Share size assurance data with Site Merchandiser’s for deep dives and Merchants/CBD teams where required.
  • Weekly / Monthly / Quarterly presentations to the senior leadership team and key stakeholders around process updates, content onboarding tracking, ODP content migration and sellable content available.
  • Establish a OneCompany content process for the Western banners post ODP launch. Lead a OneCompany cross-banner content team for Western banners.
  • Develop a OneCompany MDM/PCM attribute process for product content and work with multiple cross-functional Site Merchandising and Merchant teams to establish common product attributes.
2) Operations
  • Monthly/Quarterly reporting on SportChek and Atmosphere BOPIS usage/deep dives and provide strategic recommendations to Site Merchandising, In-store teams, Marketing and narrative points to SLT for earnings calls. Ad-hoc reporting on cancellation rates when required.
  • Leverage customer insights, analytics, research and reporting functions to support decision making, analyzing results, and provide new opportunities for growth where required.
  • Develop the annual e-merchandise annual operating plan and support operational budget. Accountable for monitoring and managing the budget throughout the year. Move recurring Vendor costs into the IT Sustaining budget for 2023.
  • Participate in eCommerce related special projects and new initiatives, as required.
3) Data Stewardship & Governance
  • Interpretation and maintenance of policies related to quality, access and usage of source systems’ data and usage of functional/business domain data for Western Banners.
  • Defining supporting roles to access RAW, Analytics and KPI layers for functional domain data
  • Approving business area KPI data usage within functional domain
  • Apply data usage policies, manage user access, ownership for data quality, disaster recovery definitions

What you bring
  • Bachelor’s degree in marketing, economics, business, and/or relevant field of study
  • 5+ years experience in leadership management roles with 2+ years experience working in a site-merchandiser role
  • Experience working with content management systems and ecommerce backend systems
  • Experience with Google Analytics or other reporting platforms. Able to analyze large amounts of data and create quantifiable insights to influence business decisions.
  • Experience and understanding of SEO/SEM
  • Experience demonstrating a clear understanding of financial measures and how to impact them; experience managing P&Ls and forecasting considered an asset
  • Superior written and presentation skills
  • A proven track record of creating inspirational online merchandising for customers
  • Creative and courageous, with the ability to manage in an environment of change
